This guy just answered a question that was very rude regarding Chrisians by simply saying "It's the religion I have a problem with, not the people" (not exact wording I'm sure, but really close!) I LOVE that answer. I'm a Christian, but even if I weren't I think that comment speaks a lot of truth. Lots of us (of all religions) spend time in here bashing each other, making personal attacks, etc. Perhaps we need to accept (not necessarily like) what others believe and go on about our business, hoping for the best in whatever direction you choose to go! Who's with me?

I'm with ya! This forum can be great fun and interesting, other times very mean and bizarre. We could all probably get alot more out of it by sticking to debating ideology, rather than personal attacks. Glad you noticed and asked this question!

You speak as though you are including yourself in this bashing. I do see some bashing, but I also see frustrations with the behaviour of people.

I was a faithful Christian for 25 plus years and another 10 searching for truth. All in all I have 48 years in one kind of church or another. I have been pagan 6 years now and have been on the path of Wicca 3.

For me it is the opposite, Christianity in general I have no problem with because it is a great concept, but it is the professed believers that do wrong and expect the rest of us to not hold them accountable that I have a problem with.

The bible is plain that the beleiver is held to a higher standard by God and by man and should do their utmost best to live "BLAMELESS" lives.

When a professsed Christian peraches to us all the time that we are going to hell but then they come to work 3 minutes late every day go to the bathroom, get coffee and finally start working 45 minutes after us sinners, I have a problem with that . Then the beleiver sits at their desk watches for the boss, and plays chess a good part of the day which is a firing offence. AND THEY THINK NOTHING OF IT. They get mad at us the hard working beleivers that do our work and obey the rules and claim we are the judgemental ones.

They then start to "witness" to us sinners about Jesus.

Paul addressed Christians like this by saying that God is blasphemed by the sinners because of the actions of so called Christians, Romans2:24 my paraphrased comments. Even then Paul was paraphrasing an Old Testement scripture.

My purpose here is not to bash, but to hopefully cause Christians to either keep their mouths shut, or to revaluate their lives and start living the way Jesus meant for them to live because honestly, modern day believers bring disgrace on their saviour.

I know there are a few people who do try and live their lives the way Jesus commanded, and I appreciate those people and get very close to them, but they are not the judgemental perachy ones either. A true beleiver does not have to preach with their mouth because their life is a living saxrifice and a living testement to Jesus.

I may have left Christianity, but I studied the bible for years and years and the purpose of Christianity is a very beautiful story and I know from experience if a person lives the way they should then those who God calls will ask THEM about their faith and they do not have to go around preaching all the time.

Even now I am somttimes mistaken for a Christian because my daily life has not changed, my values have not changed, only my religion has changed. Even here on YA I am sometimes mistaken for a Christian for my comments and remarks. I am not complaining, I am trying to shame those who talk the talk but refuse to walk the walk in the pretext that we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. Rom 3:23. and then claim that as a Christian they are just a saved sinner.

Actually that's totally backwards, in my opinion. The RELIGION is fine; what's irritating is its followers who think it's their moral duty to "convert" the entire world. It's those who think that the people who don't agree are lost and confused and need to be "saved". I have no problem with the faith itself; I have a problem with people telling me that I'm wrong because I don't believe in a bunch of unprovable events that I have no reason to believe in, and that I'm going to burn forever because I don't agree with you.

"Perhaps we need to accept (not necessarily like) what others believe and go on about our business"

Then why do Christians always find it necessary to be "missionaries"? I'd LOVE it if more religious people took that advice, but they don't. They're not comfortable with just believing stuff on their own -- they need everyone ELSE to believe. And they come off as obnoxious and irritating when they go around selling it to everyone. That's the problem... not the religion itself.

I'm the other way round, I have no problem with any religion as long as its practised among consenting adults, but I detest missionaries and bullies in any way, shape, or form, whether they be Jehovas witnesses or vegetarians, and I feel free to register my discontent to my heart's content if they molest my eyes on these pages.

Sorry to disagree, but these people are utterly impervious to irony or humour, and kind understanding only encourages them.

AMEN Sister! I respect people and their right to worship no matter what their faith is. We are all different. I feel others have the same right I do. We all as people need to respect the rights and feelings of others. We may not have to agree but we should respect!

I am.
Criticism, attacking, boasting...have to be avoided.
But reality shows that all men are not of the same temperament and the same level of understanding, so we also need some more patience, tolerance and self-control.

How about if I have nothing against the religion or the people, I just don't want to participate. Will that do?

I agree. I don't think we should judge people based on their beliefs. There are good people and bad people in all walks of life, but we have to be tolerant and understanding.

I always tell people that it is not me they are mad at, but the truth of God's word- that is why I use scripture- because it is God's word and not my own. So yes, what he said is true!
