my friend told me that i was girly because i like a quality dessert wine. is this true? are dessert wines only for girls? do they have the same cache as, say, fruity cocktails?
i also drink real wine, but i like a dessert wine with dessert.

No, but as the wine palate goes-most pe ople start of with the sweet and sticky's and then start to graduate to other wines. The wine palate just takes time and practice.

The fact that you prefer dessert wines doesn't make you any less of a man-just means you have different tastes.

Dessert wines have a tremendous amount of flavor and concentrated fruit.

Wine is also part of my business, so enjoy and don't bother with the snotty typecasting of the elite wanna be's. Any person who truely loves wine-won't fault you for what you like.

I drink dessert wines instead of having dessert because it's better for your waist so think of all the girls you'll get because you didn't have a dessert gut.

It just shows you have class and the guys with the class get the most ***!

Man, I love port and that kind of stuff, and the first guy who calls me girly will get something long and hard stuck up all the way where the sun does not shine. The question being whether I'll use on of my training bokken or if I'll impress a broomhandle to the task.

Of course, given that I usually have more beer than blood in my system, and that I'm a whisky (preferably Scotch, but the US do have some quite honorable entries) fan, I don't expect to have my manhood impugned.

LMAO....Just tell your "friend" that his girl friend or wife is a "manly girl" when they drink beer or cut up a steak once in a while.
But it's a blessing actually, cause good dessert wines are hard to come by and the quantity is small. Be glad that there is one less person to share these nectar of the gods with you.

Your friend has the sophistication of a doorstop. A good dessert wine is the perfect capper to a fine meal. Let your friend have his Jello, or whatever he thinks of as a manly dessert. Enjoy your wine.

No it just makes you an educated one - your friend is a dolt and probably thinks beer only comes in a can. If you enjoy a good dessert wine or fine after dinner aperitif - it is more a reflection of good background than "femininity".

HELL NO. I work in a fine wine and spirits shop we sell some of the best to men. And my husband is a very manly construction worker who loves a good dessert wine. It means that you love fine things, and that is an aphrodisiac to women.

No, of course not!

Each person is free to do as he/she pleases, and just because you have one "feminine" quality doesn't make you a "girly man." If you carefully observe your friends, you'll notice something about them that probably seems uncharacteristic for his/her gender!

No, it makes you a "gentleman"--not many of those around anymore!
