My Husband and I are trying to conceive. I have been reading all these ovulation charts and they are not adding up for me, cause some things are right and others are wrong. So help me if you can. i started my period Oct. 10th. It lasted for 7 days and always does. I then stated Nov. 8 and lasted for 7 days. When do I ovulate. All these charts go by 5 day mensturations and I don't know if that matters or not.

hi im pregnant at the moment and i have been given a pregnancy book by the hospital with the charts etc in showing when ur period is conception occures and ovulation i know excatley what day i conceived and it fits perfectly to ovuklation and period dates if ur last period was on the 8th november you will ovulate on the 21st nov and conception will prob take place between 19th and 23th of nov but ur best day was the 21st (yesterday) althou don't rule it out today ;-) wink wink lol if this month fails ur next period is due on the 7th december so u will ovulate on 20th dec and are most likely to get pregnant between 18-22 , but ur luckiest day is the 20th , , just remember its 14 days after 1st day of ur period when u ovulate , good luck xx

I don't believe the length of your period matters. Generally it's believed that you ovulate 14 days before you get your period. So from your dates, if everything is working properly, I would guess that you ovulated on October 24th.
Have you read about Basal Body Temperature? Basically, you take your temperature every morning before getting out of bed and write it down. About 24 hours before you ovulate, your temp should go up about .7 degrees. (I think. My facts may be off a little.) I used the site fertilityfriend.com to document my charts when I was trying to conceive. They also have forums where you can find others dealing with the same stuff.

I have irregular cycles. Most people are 14 days after their period, but not all people. I typically have a 33 day cycle and a short luteal phase, so I typically ovualte on day 22. Try using an ovulation predictor kit. They are around $18 per kit and you use them for 6 days around day 11-17 and when the line is darker than the other guide line, you will ovulate within 24-48 hours. The doctor told me length of period doesn't matter.

I don't think it does matter how many days your period lasts, because it goes by the first day, usually.

So you'll ovulate somewhere between 12-14 days after the first day of your last period.

I think.

Goodluck :)

In my own cycle I know I ovulate 14 days after the first day of my last menstrual cycle. I use this method to prevent pregnancy but sometimes it is not foolproof. Check with a doctor for methods you can use. Luck to you and your husband.

The best time to try is halfway between the end of your periods. That's when the egg is released and has the best chance of being fertilized.

By your example, you would ovulate around the 28th of October.
