1. A lack of parenting and discipline. A child needs to hear the word 'no' and have boundaries. Letting you child do whatever they want is only going to harm them in the end.
2. A lack of personal responsibility. For example, all the ridiculous lawsuits - like the woman who spilled hot coffee on herself and sued McDonald's. It's a cheap ploy to get quick cash and it's nothing but pure greed.
3. Selfishness. I think this goes along with the lack of personal responsibility. We're too busy being wrapped up in our own lives and being self-absorbed that rarely do we see acts of genuine kindness or altruism.
In my opinion, those are the three main signs of moral decaying society - however, I don't think society is completely doomed or anything. Every generation has, and will have, problems; I think it's a matter of changing attitudes and working for the good of everyone, rather than 'me, me, me'. :)

The most prominent sign of moral decay in our society is that the younger generation of adults between 16 and 26 seem to whine a lot, yet they do nothing to help find a solution. There are too many young adults in our jails and prisons now, and too many living with their parents, and not working.
Another trend in decay is Child protective services has taken the hope and authority away from families by removing kids from homes for reasons not warranting removal. This in turns destroys the kids feeling of belonging, doing far more damage than the act which got them removed in the first place. Then social services kicks these 18 year olds to the curb with no tools to make it on their own. Then, they end up in prison or something worse. I abhor the entire Social Services system, did you know they make more money by removing children from their homes? Maybe they ought to get bonuses for keeping families together, then we would see a lot less of this social fabric torn to shreds. Shame on CPS for destroying the future of this country. It's a shame that I as a taxpayer am guilty for paying these stupid CPS workers with my tax dollars. Oh yeah, and they don't have to be accountable for the money they spend. I try to do what I can to change this decaying system, but I am only one person. No one should lose their child because they are poor. No one should lose their children because they find themselves homeless. Why doesn't the government give these parents the same amount of money they are going to give the foster home they will send the child to? Oh, and don't forget to give them the medi-cal too. It don't make sense does it?

I think that the most prominent sign of moral decay is among our youths. They think that it is ok to be promiscus and spread themselves like flies. Infecting each other with disease that have deadly outcome. Another one is these child predators that are basicly becoming untouchable. They are more computer advanced than the police. Stalking our children when their online. No I do not think that the society we live in today is better than the society of years ago, it has become worse. The only thing that is better is technology and medicine.

There are many indications of the moral decay of society:
1. There are now more unmarried couples living together than married couples in the United States, I believe.
2. Music videos, advertisements, and the media in general send constant messages that your body is not okay the way it is and it always needs to be skinnier, taller, and covered with makeup. It's gotten to the point where the ideal body type is actually one that is unhealthy.
3. There are very few television shows, movies, or songs available in the popular media that do not have some kind of inappropriate violent or sexual content or message.
4. Pornography is everywhere.
I don't think that our society is as bad as it could be. For example, we still think that pedophilia is bad, and unlike the ancient Greeks, we do not condone it generally and prosecute those who do it.
However, we're definitely heading downhill.

The indiscriminate use of sex between two people who just wanted sex for the sex and not love making instead. More and more young people engage in pre marital sex... Other mature persons just easily divorse and find another mate like animals peope specially in the western worl change parners just like changing clothes.. And the worst thing is it is spreading throughout the world like wild fire...
Family degredation that is,,, the morale fiber of the family which is supposed to be the nucleus of all society is rotting down specially in the most powerful nation...like america, and in europe and other western countries. Even here in yahoo answer, you can feel it with the way you peope ask questions about sex and chainging partner for as young as nine years old.
The institution of the illegal drugs,, it becomes a menace to society.. all these are promient sign of the moral decay of society and nothing is getting better by the hour..
A holocaust of course will all change everything for it seems that mean waits for the worst before they pray to their God in whatever religion they are.

I think that any time a society gets large enough to require identification cards there will be a trend of decay. The biggest red flag is when people lose the skills of politeness to authority and/or each other. No, things aren't getting better, in fact, they will become much worse before any improvement is seen.

Loss of real neighborhoods. Loss of the working class pride. Loss of will for the people on public assistance to better their situation through hard work. Loss of charactor and ethics. These are all viral issues that seep into every area of society, including government.
Let's stop slamming who people live with and start talking about how we live with charactor as a society.

I think it has to do with our selfish attitudes about everything. We want what we want when we want it. If that crushes everyone else, so what. If I can sit in line to get my Playstation, who cares about the suckers who have to work. If I find a wallet, why not keep the money. Only a sucker would give that back.

For me, it is the sheer number of murders committed in our society today. It's as if many people have no respect for human life anymore; it has become almost disposable.
