That a perspective renter has a right to be in this country? Like a temporary work visa or some other paperwork that demonstrates a persons right to be in the country? I think this may work and cut down on the number of illegals in this country, what say you?

Yes, Valid Proof Should Be Required

If The Prospective Tenant Cannot Provide
Valid Documentation Verifying Their SS #, Immigration Status
(At LEAST A Green Card, If Not Citizenship Docs)
The Prospective Tenant / ILLEGAL ALIEN
Should Be Immediately REPORTED And DEPORTED

Same For Employers Hiring Prospective Employees

Anyone ATTEMPTING To Rent A Dwelling
Or Attempting To Get A Job
Without Valid Proof Of Immigration Status
Or
Using Fraudulent / Stolen Identification Of ANY Type
Should Be Immediately REPORTED And DEPORTED

Economic Terrorists
Should Be Treated The Same As ANY Terrorists

Some city's require that the prospective renter go to the city offices and fill our papers that have to be verified by the government before they are cleared as legal to rent..
A more complicated rent/credit application. I am in favor
of a uncounterfeitable (made up word I think) national ID card for all legal US citizens. And I am in favor of any measure that makes being in this country illegally even more difficult.

That sounds good. Another thing or the most important thing would be employers verifing that they are legally able to work here. To ensure the employers are doing this Any employer caught with an illegal working for them they should have a ten thousand dollar pently per illegal. Might make them think twice about hiring illegal. Would be cheaper to keep the legals pay them minium wage plus benifits then to hire and illegal.
If there is no work to come to then they won't come.

Land lords in deed ought to check into what ever they can, with a perspective renter, I will save them money in the long run, especially when I have seen the damage a renter will do, then turn around and do a bold faced lye about it being that way, when said renter moved in.

I think it's a good idea. Some landlords would hate it though. I know of occasions when a landlord would charge rent by the person and let as many in one house or apartment as they could fit. Even in low income housing. People truly in need of an apartment had to get a legal aide lawyer to help them.

Maybe some Europeans can say for a fact, but I thought in Europe when one travels from country to country, a passport must be presented at the borders, if so, why can't we use the same systems. To make sure everyone has a passport, any time they rent or even just to check in a hotel/motel, they should have to present their passport, if asked for.

HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

"instead of wasting taxpayer $ on the War on Drugs, the War on Terror, the War on Words...etc! "

the war on drugs and terror is a waste of tax money? War on Words? are you serious??? HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

I think this is a good idea and would not mind going through the extra trouble of providing proof of status if it keeps the deadbeat illegals out. That is the point. Maybe if their only option is to live on the street they will stop coming. Lets hope so.

So how do you decide to ASK for the proper documentation. If the prospective renter speaks with an accent, do you then decide to ASK for papers.

You don't think that as "a rule" that ALL tenants should be required to show PROOF then. That means you and me. That means EVERY time we want to rent a new place we must provide birth certificates for EVERYONE we plan on living with us. Oh and if we have misplaced those or they are in a box at the bank or our grandpa's safe, we are crap out of luck.

The home goes to the REAL American.

Give me a break.

If someone is here illegally they have no proof. The landlord will evict them. Because all landlords are required to ask for the same proof they won't be able to find an apartment in another building. They could be out on the street with their children.
I think it's disgusting. I really don't care about their status. They're still human beings.

Excellent idea ... that combined with companies who hire illegals paying hefty fines, and immediate deportation of illegals discovered in the United States would go a long way to solving the problem ..
