For serving, you all you force to punch it over the net. make sure you form a proper fist. If not, I would'nt be surprise if your wrist or fist are getting pain.
For bumping, only bump it if the ball is low. If it's high, volley it. Oh and make sure your hands are in good position and form or your fingers will be sore (especially thumbs). Volleying the ball would mean push it up to give it more height. Not down or you just gave the other team one point.
And keep on practicing.

Some great exercises you can do (some are hard, but if you really want to learn, they are excellent): Choose a wall with a high ceiling. If you are serving with the right hand, have the ball in your left hand. Keep your left foot forward. Throw the ball in the air parallel to the wall (10 cm away) and hit it at its high point, which should be the length of your arm extended. Hit it such that your hand hits the ball against the wall so that the ball stays against the wall. Let go and let the ball drop back into your arms. Repeat. Hint: you are not trying to make the ball bounce away from the wall. All you are doing here is practicing timing on serving. Once you are somewhat comfortable with volleying (practice with a volleyball against the wall) you can try it with a basketball. This will make you fingers stronger and more flexible when playing with an actual volleyball. You can try standing in push up position on your fingers as long as possible 3 times a day. Later on, when you have other skills down, and well into the season, I think you should try the bump, volley, hit combination against the wall. Throw the ball against the wall and bump it up to yourself. Then volley it to yourself once more and lightly hit it overhand against the wall. Repeat without dropping the ball. For more beginner exercises, see other people's comments. Only do the exercises I mentioned once you feel that you are comfortable with them, And Good Luck.

For serving make a really hard hand and tense it up this can help ...also try getting it over with your fist and it give a lot of power more than just a hand. Keep practicing and lifting heavy things so you can improve the muscle in your arms. Make sure to follow through with your serve .
For spikeing keep practicing the 2 or 3 step plan or w/e plan it is that you are comfortable w/. Keep practicing with it like with the steps and try just slamming your hand like when you do it with a ball for spikeing.
For your arms just keeping hitting or slapping them or just keep practicing w/ a volleyball. When I started my arms were all red and I had BRUISES!!! But try bumping with a soccer ball because it will help you build streghnth in your forearms faster than it will w/ a volleyball because they are really soft.
Hope it helps!!!

i am a volleyball player 2 and i stink at bumping 2. all i do is go out to the outside of my house and play against the wall. when serving to the same thing except back up to where to wall is the net and you are as far away as you need. also join a volleyball club. that helped me improve my skills a lot. also join the school team. also teaching can help you learn to. so teach your younger sib or your older one if they dont play. i am the youngest in my family and my older sibs help me alot when i am not doin something right. or get the school coach to help. see if you could stay after school and she/he could give you some tips and show them what you need help wit. also practice makes perfect so never give up and keep on trying

While serving, don't toss the ball way behind you.. it wont go anywhere. Make sure you toss it in front of you and not too high. AWAYS follow through. I had this problem a while ago.. My serves would always go out becuase I was not following thorugh. I am a defensive player and some tips are to always have a flat platform, in other words, don't bend your arms. Always be on your toes and get low. You really just gotta practice. I'm a horrible spiker (I only tip) so sorry, I can't help you with that. I hope I helped.

This Site Might Help You.
RE:
What can I do to improve my volleyball skills?
I suck at bumping, volleying, spiking and serving. Preety much all the skills. When we play volleyball in teams of six, I miss the ball or hit the ball and says "ow". Then the other five members blamed it on me for missing an "easy" shot.
Serving: I stand at the position...

Make sure when bumping the ball get "under the ball" and practice having control. Serving is something you just need to practise at to get better. Everyone has something they do. Try using other peoples ways of serving till you find the right one that fits you best.
