Though prepackaged salads are supposed to be clean and ready for consumption, the bottom line is that nothing ever can compare with your own standards of hygiene. It only takes 5 extra minutes and if you DO wash the salad, then you are more certain than ever before that it has been prepped for you to eat to your own satisfaction.

Absolutely! Dole has had many recalls in the past over e-coli bacteria being on their pre-packaged salad. EVEN if the package says washed (rinsed) it's best to wash it just to be sure.

technically no. I often eat it right out of the bag. But I make sure the ones i buy say "pre-washed" on the bag. Other than that, it makes the salad soggy in my opinion...

Whoever suggested that washing removes e-coli from food needs to know how mistaken they are.
The bacteria actually is inside the plant's cell walls from feeding off of contaminated soil.
You have to cook it at a high enough temperature to kill e-coli, washing alone does nothing.

You don't HAVE to do anything in life.(We GET to do all this stuff)
Some things should be common sense, and yes, washing pre packaged salad would be prudent.

Yes you do.
If you don't wash it then it might have some plastic chemicals that might be poison. You don't know where it's been from. I know they wash it and all but sometimes they might miss a spot.

Yes. Not only is it safer to wash it, but you will notice that cold water will crisp it up some.

Yes, you should. Better safe than sorry, especially with the E. coli and salmonella breakouts lately.
