A man is walking down a path. He comes to a fork in the road. One of the paths leads to his destination, the other leads to his death... yet he does not know which one. There are two brothers, each infront of the start of each path. One brother ALWAYS LIES and one brother ALWAYS TELLS THE TRUTH. The man walking can only ask ONE (1) question to ONE brother in order to figure out which is the right path to walk down. What should this question be?

Take your time...no stupid answers and GOOD LUCK!!

Ask one brother which path the other brother will tell you to go down. Then do the opposite. Think about it... if you ask the liar which one the other will tell you to go down, he'll lie about what the truth teller will say, thus giving you the opposite of the right path.

He asks one of the brothers if the other brother would tell him that a certain path is the right one. If the one he asks says yes, and it's the one who tells the truth, then he can't take that one, because it means the other brother is the liar and would lie when saying yes. If he says yes and he's the liar, that means the other one would say no, and he's the truthful one.

Ask ANY ONE OF THEM, "If you were to tell me which is the path that leads to death, what would you say?"

Truthtelling brother would obviously say the path that leads to death.

Lying brother would be lying about what he'd say, resulting in telling the truth (and saying the path that leads to death). After all, lying about lying is telling the truth.

The man then just chooses to go the other path.

"Would your brother say the left path leads to my death?"

You see, if he said yes and he told the truth then the other one would be the liar. If the liar would say yes, the answer would be no and the left path would be safe.

However, if he said yes and he was the liar, then that would mean the other one would have really said no and been telling the truth.

The opposite would hold true if he answered no.

he goes up to any one of them (lets call him A) and asks A if the other(B) would say that A's path would lead to certain death, if he says yes that means that no matter what B's path leads to his destination! :^D way too easy!

this only works if he knows which brother is the one that always lies, cuz then you could go up to him and say does this path lead to my death or destination, w.e he says, believe the opposite, and go down the path that leads to your destination.

The man should ask the 'lying" brother ' "if I go this way will I live and get to my destination?"

Am I right?
