What's written in the bible is a big combination of things. The Bible is divided into 2 parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. A lot of it is actual history of things that happened since the earth was created. But a lot of it is teaching Christians how to live a Godly life, and encouragement from the Lord. If you want to know more about the life of Jesus, start in the New Testament, particularly in the book of John. The Old Testament is where you'll find the psalms of David, and book after that is Proverbs, which was written by Solomon.

The bible contains 2 parts: Old testament (before Jesus)
and the new testament (during and after Jesus)
Each testament has Books. Each book is written by someone, some people have written more than one book...Paul wrote 13.
In the Old testament, the first 6 or 8 books are part of the Torah, the Jewish book of faith. Ask a Jesish person to be sure on that.
The old testament has many more books, is longer and the time span it was written over is thousands of years. Psalms is a book of poems written to God by king David. It is in the Old testament.
In the new testament the first 4 books are called "the gospels" This is when Jesus was alive and quoted. The new testament was written over the course of about 80 years.
Some say the old testament is God's word concealed (like hidden) and the new testament is god's word revealed (exposed and laid flat on the line). Thats because the Old testament talks in prophecy alot (people saying what will happen) and the New testament Jesus comes and fulfills, or lives, all of the prophesy that is said. this is a Christian belief.
I hope I helped you... thanks for asking this question
David

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s chart. Here Paradise is restored, heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed, Christ is its grand object, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be open in the Judgment, and will be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

It is better if you do find them for yourself.
You can find bible to buy anywhere or you can simply search them in the internet.
But having one bible to read at any time you wish is better,
It is better than reading fictions and even non fiction general knowledge books...
GOD Bless

If you are interested, pick up a bible and read it for yourself...this will give you a lot more than any answers you'll get here...not that you won't get answers, but, you'll have to deal with others' biases and beliefs.

Too much to answer here, but my brief description would be: creation, the story of God's chosen people (Israel) , prophesy , the birth & ministry of Jesus including his death & resurrection, the spread of Christianity after Jesus' ministry , and so much much more, including how we can have eternal life!
