Since some Americans think that Thanksgiving is a racial or patriotic day, should it be canceled since someone might get killed if they are celebrating Thanksgiving to. Shouldn't Thanksgiving be for everyone, invite everyone to enjoy the holiday. Even the illegals.

If thanksgiving is canceled, I don't get to eat yams and marmellows. I love yams and marshmellows. The turkeys might be happy with that idea, but I'm not.

It's an American holiday. Since when should Americans be so selfish as to not invite others to a celebration?

My daughter did Thanksgiving in October.... being in Canada now. So it is also a Canadian holiday, but on a different day.

The world is global now. Get used to it. Embrace it. Love they neighbor as thyself.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Sue

A racial holiday? And who would be killed for celebrating it? Fine. I hope they enjoy a nice Thanksgiving feast in peace tomorrow. But I will still ask them to go home the day after.

[edit] Legend of the First Thanksgiving
The Pilgrims were early settlers on the east coast of North America. They had to work hard to find or grow their own food. At harvest time in autumn, the Pilgrims were very thankful that they had a good crop of food to eat during the coming winter. They thanked God and they also thanked the native Americans for helping them learn how to grow food. So they invited their two key Native American helpers, Squanto, Samoset, plus Chief Massasoit, to share in their Thanksgiving feast. The Native Americans brought their families, numbering over 90 people. The Pilgrims were overwhelmed, and didn´t have enough food, so the Native Americans brought along their own supplies for the feast. The Wampanoags brought turkey, deer, berries, squash, cornbread, and beans--things that they'd farmed and that they'd shown the Pilgrims how to care for.

The first official Thanksgiving had nothing to do with Pilgrims or Native Americans sharing meals. In fact, the food that was eaten did not include a lot of what we eat today. The menu was venison, wild turkey, wild nuts, and fruit. Please see: http://pilgrims.net/plymouth/thanksgiving.htm Much of the credit for the adoption of a later ANNUAL national Thanksgiving Day may be attributed to Mrs. Sarah Joseph Hale, the editor of Godey's Lady's Book. For thirty years, she promoted the idea of a national Thanksgiving Day, contacting President after President, until President Abraham Lincoln responded in 1863 by setting aside the last Thursday of November as a national Day of Thanksgiving. Over the next seventy-five years, Presidents followed Lincoln's precedent, annually declaring a national Thanksgiving Day. Then in 1941, Congress permanently established the fourth Thursday of each November as a national holiday.

No Thanksgiving should not be cancelled-it is American tradition and that will not be taken away. Since illegals are not Americans and just criminals I see no reason to invite a criminal to Thanksgiving.I may just invite a LEGAL immigrant though, no problem.

i think it should not be cancelled, and everyone should be able to celebrate it. i see thanksgiving as i see christmas- it is no longer a religious holiday only. it has just become a celebration of giving, thankfulness, and togetherness. interpret it as you may... but that is how i feel.

What the hell are you talking about? This forum is losing its mind today.Thanksgiving is a national American holiday,I don't care who celebrates it,no one is thinking about the BS you are trying to sell here.Stop stirring the pot.Its not about race.
I will give thanks tomorrow as I do everyday of my life, for being fortunate enough to live in the greatest nation in the world. The United States of America .My ancestors fought and died for the privilege I enjoy and I don't want to see that privilege cheapened by "giving " away free citizenship as a reward to illegal aliens.
