Many times an oily scalp comes from actually using to many products in your hair that can irritate the scalp or dry it out. It stimulates your oil and sebaceous glands to pump out more oil.
So...if you DO use lots of products, stop. Use a mild shampoo.
Dermalab is a good one recommended by my doctor. You have to order it at pharmacies. I ordered mine over the phone from an old pharmacy in Cincinnati, OH called "Benet's". You can also buy facial soap and hair conditioner with the dermalab label. It is very mild on your skin, and is not available in groceries. (you do NOT have to have a prescription to buy it, either.)

I use Neutragenia Clean n Clear Shampoo. It's great for oily hair and it won't leave build up!
