Anyone can be a spiritual messenger. Sleestacks are from the land of the lost, and are a sect of sorts.

From what I remember about land of the lost, they are reptilian creatures and all the reptiles that I know of have two separate genders like people do. In the ancient Egyptian times, creatures like these were considered minions of Set, the Egyptian equivalent of the Devil.
