i know him a lil bit but when we talk he gets all shy what should i do

sounds like everyone else covered all the basics- you'll probably work this one in best by seeing if he wants to go out drinkin or to see a movie or something

If he gets shy, you already have his attention. Guys aren't good at talking (as a rule), so suggest something active (like a hike, bike ride, bowling with friends, help with moving, etc) if there's someway he can get rid of his nervous tension by doing something physical while still being close to you, you've got a much better shot at getting together with him.
