Border Collies are bred for their herding abilities, their smarts, and their lightning reflexes -- as opposed to say an English Bulldog ( totally different body build for a totally different function ). I have had a Border Collie and know several people who own and/or raise them, and I have never seen an overweight one. Not even in older or neutered/spayed Borders. Their body metabolism and the fact that they don't just lay around is what keeps them from getting over weight. Most actually look underweight. If she's hungry she'll eat. As long as her behavior is normal, I wouldn't worry.

As long as the vet is not worried I don't think you should worry. It is better for our pets to be a pound or two under weight. It is much worse if they are a little heavy. If someone says something to you just let them know the vet said she is fine.

My border collie was VERY skinny too, the vet always said it was nice to see one is good shape... Kato was very athletic, we jogged, bike rode and snow shoed (depending on the season of course!) I did see one who was over weight, I was shocked, but then she belonged to an older couple who didn't exercise her, so she became over weigth. When she gets older and her metablisom wears down a bit she'll gain a bit of weight.

Try owning a sighthound - which most people consider skinny when they are FAT. A fat dog is not a good thing hold your head up * leave your dog in great condition.
