I only found out about 6 months ago i was epileptic. I kept blacking out and when i`d came round i`d wet myself and was very confused. After speaking to my GP she said it was definitely epilepsy and asked if i`d ever had it happen as a child, which it did but normally once a year and my old GP told my parents it was due to the really hot summers. My GP has told me why my epilepsy has got really bad and that's due to a terminal illness i have which is attacking my immune system. I take phenetoyn tablets to control the fits which does help. Most people think fits are where your flying about but this is not the case. A "petti mal" is where you spasm and fling about and a "grande Mal" is where you black out. Getting back to the point of your question, There is no definite answer. My GP has told me that it depends on the type of epilepsy (there is a lot) whether or not a person will grow in or out of it. My cousin had severe epilepsy when he was younger and he seems to of grown out of it, He probably only has a fit once in a blue moon.

Yes, some (usually few) but some do.
Mindfulness Meditation always helps one with Epilepsy !!
Read anything by Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD
and anything by Dr. Andrew Weil.
Other excellent reading: "Calming Your Anxious Mind" by Jeffrey Brantley MD
and "Working with Anger" by Thubten Chodron
Both books teach how to keep the mind calm, patient and peaceful to help prevent seizures.
