I jumped in the front of a moving train once, broke 84 bones. That stung a bit.

I broke my wrist and had an external fixator instead of a cast. That was attached to titanium screws that went into my bones. The screws are coated with a special coating designed to make them grow to the bone so they don't get loose.
After getting the fixator off, the doctor removed those screws without giving me anything. He used a wrench and "cracked" them free from the bone. He came back 10 minutes later and screwed them out of my arm. "Cracking" them free seemed like the same thing as loosening lug nuts on a car and hurt a lot worse than breaking the wrist. I also put my hand into a saw and that did not hurt as bad.
I have never had a baby, so I can't compare to that.
