Chinchilla's have a delicate digestive system so feeding them anything other that good quality pellets and hay (occasionally alfalfa) and of course plenty of water they dont' need much else. Treats should be given sparingly, things that are OK are shredded wheat (no frosting), oat meal (not the quick kind), apple branches, grapevines mostly to keep their teeth ground down.

There is much listed at http://www.chins-n-quills.com/forums/

lettuce, stuff like that. if you are thinking of getting one, why don't you read up on it. they are considered exotic animal, and might need special things. get a book and do research on them. good luck.
