I guess they honestly expect drive-by shootings on snowmobiles.

The Reason it is illegal has nothing to do with a the permit or not the problem is in most states they have laws against carrying a uncased gun on a OHV (Off Highway Vehicle) and in such states as Mine Colorado its has to be cased and unloaded completely not even any in clip/magazine witch is a pain to hunt from Snowmobile and 4 Wheelers and carry anytype of Handgun. hope that helps

In Montana you can carry your hand gun in a holster on your side right downtown if you want (with the exception of state or federal buildings, banks, or places that sell or serve alcolic beverages).
It is only cosidered concealed if you cannot see it on your body, a women can carry one in her purse and it is not considered concealed, you can carry one in the glove compartment of your truck and it is not cosidered concealed.
You can carry one any where on your snowmobile and it is not concealed.
What state do you live in? sounds like California.

In Missouri you can carry a concealed (or visible) weapon in your vehicle. You can get a concealed carry permit for walking around with it hidden.
You can carry it concealed or non-concealed - unless the property owner posts a sign - or in bars.

In all 50 states, it's only illegal to carry the gun concealed on a snow mobile if you get caught. Know any cops that are searching snow mobiles for concealed weapons in your area?
