Nice question..try this..ask someone or others to compare physically(ex. looks) the two of you..if others say that the guy is too handsome for you..then better quit..but if others say that the two of you are compatible physically..then you can ask out the guy..boys usually looks at the girl physically..thats it..Coz if ur going out..the guy is conscious what others will say to both of you...A guy might be thinking that other s will say the two of u are mismatch and etc...

I'd be up front about it. Why beat around the bush and hope he gets the message. If you really like this guy, just tell him. Sure, you're putting your emotions out there to get stomped on...but that's the risk you take.

You should get to know him better and soon he will talk to you and become comfortable around you. You have to compliment his clothing and laugh at all of his jokes. If he backs away or is shy about talking to you chances are he probably doesn't like you. GOOD LUCK!
