Yup. See how many wars we would get into if the rich kids had to go. With the Bush daughters leading the way.

No, I do not agree with the draft. Why make someone do something that they don't want to. That makes for a big problem, and an unhappy soldier. If Congress passed a law that said all Americans had to take it up the bu*t every day for several long years, would you be all up for it? That's what it is going to be like for those that didn't want to be put through going to war-feeling like they're getting it up the rear everyday for a very long time. I know I personally don't like getting it up the rear, what about you?

A draft goes against everything we believe, or should believe, as Americans. It was wrong in the Civil War, it would be wrong today. In times when our nation has faced a serious threat of invasion, such as World War 2, we have found that more than enough volunteers come forward. There was a draft for World War 2, but it was unnecessary.
A draft goes against the basic idea that your body is your own, and therefor it is incontrovertibly immoral.

No way in the world. Nobody has a right to force someone to go kill others. I know a few Vietnam Veternan conscripts and 30 years later their heads are still messed up which in turn affects their children, so you have a whole generation of people with PTS disorder and the like. Not a good move.

I agree with him. One of the reasons we are getting so many problems from our rivals is we are tied up in Iraq. I believe we must have a win there and we have to be strong enough to fend off other threats. A draft can accomplish this.
Plus our country is polarized now, the draft would force people to be together and to get along. It might even get our country closer together. It gives everyone a personal stake in making sure America succeeds. I hope it passes.

I don't think the public wants to reinstate the draft. If they do revive the draft it should be in the form that every boy and girl at the age of 18 must serve in some branch of the armed services for 1 1/2 to 2 years therefore complying with equal rights unless, of course, you are too infirm.
I feel if the enemy invaded us on our turf we would all willingly fight regardless of age, sex or race.

No I dont agree. The draft is a horrible thing. Take someone off the street and make them be a soldier. A soldier should be a professional. A person specially trained. Not some pimple faced kid off the street.

It's been asked a few times now, but in an all volunteer military just wouldn't work that well.
As stated before, draftees have a pretty bad outlook and poor reliability. This mixed with the current hard working volunteer military would lead to quite a few problem with morale and IMO many volunteers would get out.
Basically, our military would go down the drain.

I think it should only be done when we are at full fledge war something like WW1 WW2 or Vietnam. For the war we are at now it does't constitute a war draft. But then again we may have to go to war against China over Japan so for that I would think we would need it.
