cause myths and folklore people take as nonfactual, whereas religions people take as factual, regardless to whether they are or arent. its peoples perception of the topic.
moreso religion is belief in a god whereas myths are more mythical creatures and what not. bigfoot, loch ness monster, yetti, unicorn, harpy, etc...
however ancient mythological gods such as zues go under myth too no idea why.
