Look in her food cupboards and see what she likes.
Try delicatessens they do unusal things

M&S is always a safe bet for mums and they do lovely foodstuffs at Xmas.Put it into a nice wicker basket with lots of shredded glittery paper. She'll love it
If theres only her at home remember to buy individual sizes of things, mums dont like waste

Nice idea -she will love it! You have to gear it to her tastes of course. So special tea or herb teas if she likes tea, or special coffee. Honey or jam, maybe some cute little pots. Have a wander round an upmarket supermarket or a garden centre or farm shops, they have nice things there. Biscuits. Chocolates - something Christmassy. I saw a tube of pink Smarties today and got them for my daughter's stocking from Father Christmas. Nuts are good if she likes them. Dried fruit, crystallised fruit. Olive oil. Anything really. Pop in a few non-foodie items, maybe a tiny cute white teddy bear. I love white bears at Christmas. And wrap the whole thing in lovely crunchy cellophane and add a big red bow and a fake poinsettia. It will look so pretty. You don't have to spend a fortune if you are clever with what you choose!

If your Father can't give you any ideas (like what your Mom has been saying she needs... ), then - if you visit her home on a regular basis (assuming you don't live there), maybe you can nose around, like in the kitchen.
Could she use some new kitchen towels? What state are her wooden utensils in?
What do you know of your Mom... does she like to bake, does she like barbecuing?

Where you say Mum, we say Mom... when you say hamper, maybe we say basket?
If she likes to barbecue, stock a basket with tongs, skewers, pot holders and condiments.
Maybe she'd like a breakfast basket - fill it with a skillet, an egg coddler, wire whisk and a pancake turner.
A general cook's basket would be stocked with a small wooden cutting board, a set of wooden utensils, a couple of kitchen towels, set of measuring spoons, spatula, grater, etc.

If you don't think kitchen stuff is the way to go, snoop around in the bathroom... does she use bubble-bath products? How are the towels? Bath soaps?

Christmas hamper for mum, nice idea! Few suggestions:
Bottle of sherry.
Pre-packed cheese board(Tesco do one).
Few crackers but with personalised fillings, perhaps a little frame of you and your family?
Box of Cadbury's Milk Tray.
Good luck.

If it's a food hamper, Christmas cake, pudding, special pickles and chutneys, marmalade, jam, crackers and cheeses, wine (or whatever mum likes to drink).
I hope this helps.

Heavy hand cream, great this time of year. A neck scarf, for the cold weather, maybe with a matching hat. Cute, cuddly house slippers.
