I was in New York in the beginning of December a few years ago. Even though I took my warmest coat I ended up walking into the nearest shop to buy hat, scarf and gloves!
It's COLD so especially if you're doing a lot of shopping I'd take a pair of flat boots that are big enough for big, warm, ski style socks.
That way you can be comfy and fashionable at the same time!

Sneakers are a must in n.y c or some cool ankel boots. too many people walking at the same time and your toes will get stomped on as sure as you walk one step in N.y, Believe me Im a native New Yorker.

It'll be very very cold, probably snowy and you'll probably walk ten miles a day. So comfortable flat boots, the wife says earmuffs are essential as well.

i could propose against donning turn-flops, as they're flimsy and your feet gets gross. something comfortable and supportive is a thank you to bypass (closed-toe or not is as much as you). in basic terms in the traditional direction of activities in new york, you finally end up doing so plenty extra strolling than you're able to otherwise, so save that in the time of concepts once you're packing. (Skirts are actual a competent thank you to bypass in the summertime.)

Very comfortable walking shoes for the day. My feet were killing me at the end of each day!!!
And nice clothes and shoes for the evening out.

I would say wear some Timbs, Uggs, or some comfortable tennis shoes.

I WOULD RECOMMEND SNOW BOOTS..WE USUALLY GO OVER THERE TO SHOP IN JANUARY AND THE WEATHER CAN BE BLEAK..GREAT SHOPPING THOUGH..HAVE A NICE TRIP

something ur comfy in then. trainers will do just fine but take something classy to for the new year parties! have fun u lucky bugger!
