I asked this question before but didn't get any answers that would help. Let me clarify i'm bulimic not anorexic so i don't need to start eating cuz i'm already eating... i'm 14 and a ballet dancer/model... My mom always tells me i'm fat so i went bulimic. I'm 5 feet 10 inchs and weight about 94 pounds... I don't know what to do becuase all of a sudden I have more modeling jobs and am a better dancer... but i know that bulimia is bad. I tried going to the school counsler but all she said was "well good luck with that" What should i do??

I'm sorry about your situation, and I am sure you can *end* your bulmia. The main thing for you to "get over" your bulimia is to end what's causing it. So, here it is: being bulimic is the act of binging (or maybe just eating) and purging yourself of the food directly after, correct? What's causing this is your poor self (body) image and this then equates to your issues with food, hence, throwing it up and feeling bad that you ate it. So, you need to improve your self image, end throwing up your food, and enjoy it. :)

1) What you need to to do is have a serious sit down talk with your mom and explain to her how you feel about her calling you fat and other things. Tell her you are bulmic and let her understand that you want to stop. (don't let her blow you off) If she is one to make jokes or talk about overweight people, let her know how that hurts you. This will begin to improve your relationship with your mother so that she can accept you for who you are.
2) YOU need to improve your self image and self esteem on your own. If you can not get your mom to stop calling you fat and understand how that hurts you, you need to work on this your self. This may involve going a Bulmics Anonymous (google it for one in your area), being around positive people (period) who don't have eating disorders (more importantly), or maybe read up on how to improve your self esteem and body image.
3) you have the rest of your life ahead of you, and you're not alone with your disease (which is why i suggest the Bulimics Anonymous). Don't let people (like ur counselor) brush it off, because this is serious. Realize that your problems won't go away because you skip a meal or you throw up that meal, they just get worse.
4) EMBRACE your self (your height, your natural healthy size, your hair, your nose, your hips, everything!!!) and learn to love yourself! you're a tall, beautiful ballet dancer!! It really doesn't get anymore beautiful than that. Let go of modeling for a while and concentrate on ballet because modeling often perpetuates this poor, skewed image of how a female should look. I understand that there is also pressure to stay thin as ballet dancer, just try to maintain a healthy weight and learn to eat healthy foods. Also try some other activities (with new people!)
Good luck!! and keep your head up!!

P.S. I just saw how your mom "supports your bulimia" unbelievable!!! Anyhow, screw going to her for help. Improve your self and body image, seek professional help (bulmics A, and find someone you can trust to talk to, b/c i'm sure mom wont pay for a shrink), and learn about how to eat healthy. Understand that eating does not mean you instantly get fat. Do these things immediately. Self help books for self esteem and body image, get them!!

I've dealed with eating disorders too, both anorexia and bulimia. It's something really difficult to get through. The good news is that you aren't very far into it, 2 months and throwing up 10 times isn't going to hurt you terribly. I'm sure you know that there are horrible health effects and it's sooo dangerous. If you just can't stop no matter what you do, you MUST get help. But to try and stop, never eat exessively. Eat small portions of healthy food. Whenever you feel the urge to throw up, WALK. I am seriously leave and just freaking WALK. Listen to your iPod if you like. Just walk until the feeling is gone. That way you're getting exercise AND getting all those dangerous feelings away. Please email me if you need more help, I'd be glad to do anything I can so that you don't develop a full fledged eating disorder. Stay safe.

Well, I know you're trying to get help but I honestly think that going to Yahoo answers won't get you very far in terms of your situation..most the ppl. on here (I'm assuming) are not equipped to or prepared to help or advise someone w/ your condition..you need to get professional help..you need to tell your doctor and he/she can send you to a nutritionist and your doctor will also send you to a psychiatrist/therapist to help you overcome your eating disorder...bulimia is very common in girls your age and esp. when there is a pressure to be thin, such as in the ballet/dancing world. Your school counselor sounds incredibly ignorant and inconsiderate, uncompassionate, and insensitive...although she probably just wasn't sure how to help you, but she sounds lousy...but please get professional/medical help a.s.a.p.! I hate to sound rude, and I am not trying to, but are you sure that you're 5'10" and weigh only 94 pounds???!!! That doesn't seem accurate...I am 5'2 and a tidbit under a 100 lbs. and even I look a little bit too thin ! If that weight is accurate, then that is very scary, I don't know how you are still able to even type in a question! Please don't take that the wrong way..I'm just shocked that being that underweight in proprotion to your height you are not in the hospital..please go to your doctor and tell he/she everything that is going on, and he/she would be urgent to help you.

I would stop listening to your mom first off and then I would just plan a diet of low fat and low calories it sounds like your active so it shouldn't be hard to stay skinny, Just keep in mind The whole Skelotor look is disturbing. Now come on mama go get a Big Mac and start bringing sexy back.

Have you tried focusing on something else besides appearance? Focus on a hobby, on something that you like to do? I understand that you get more modeling jobs when you look malnourished. But I'm just concerned about your health. Have you thought about meditation? Meditation is the best cure there is for the mind. You just need to reprogram the pattern of your thoughts (change the way you think.). Please try meditation. Meditating 2 hours every day will bring you out of any addictive behaviour. Please help yourself and try it. There are many books on Amazon.com that teaches you how to meditate.

belimic is when you eat and throw up to keep your weight down

if u dont throw up your not belimic, also i am 5'10 and weigh only 7 stone/ 55kg, (im english i dont work in pounds, but a bag of flour is 1kg) so just check ur BMI and if that is reasonable dont worry. just dont eat to much to make urself sick and also dont move around much after you have eaten.

hope this helps and good luck with ur dancing and modeling in the future.

last thing, ur only 14, ur weight will shift a bit as u grow up, and it could just be in a growing stage, dont worry
