She has just turned 10 and I know I need to have that talk with her. I need to know the best way to approach it without freaking her out.
Only serious answers, please.

Just sit her down in her room where she feels comfortable. Tell her you want to talk to her about the birds and the bees. I'm sure she has an idea about what that is. Then ask her what she knows. Add to that and tell her how you feel. See if she has any questions and let her know your door is always open if she has any questions. Do not laugh or make her feel uncomfortable when she does ask a question or it could embarass her and she won't feel comfortable coming to you later. Good luck and God bless!

My son is eight and it's time for that talk too, he's hearing really weird things from school! So I bought the book "Where did I come from" It's cute and to the point. Then you can answer any further questions she may have. Look up things on the internet and maybe even print them out to share with her. Be honest, loving and open and everything will fall in place. She may giggle and that's ok, don't tell her not to, but gently glide her back to the subject. You don't have to be graphic or crued [not saying you would be] just be loving and understanding. I also would tell her that sex is an adult thing and not something children or even teenagers should do. Lately, I think I'm the only one that feels that way. I hope all works out for you! Good Luck!

I watched the Katie Couric special a couple of years ago and used that as the starting point with my now 13 old. Try to keep it simple and honest. Let her ask questions. Dont' give her too much information but answer to the best of your ability. Ask her what she has heard, what her friends are saying etc. My son was actually told that if girls took viagra they would grow a penis. So you never know what they hear, believe and share as the gospel truth. Keep yourself approachable so if she ever has questions or concerns she will come to you. Just because you talk about it tonight doesnt mean the conversation is over. Good Luck. It is hard being a parent these days!!

When I was in the 6th grade all the girls went to health class (the ones that got there note signed by a parent) and watched a cartoon showing two Allen's having sex under the covers of course and another about a duck....LoL and then there was another film REAL about young girls getting there period.....My mom would try to bring stuff up with me but I didn't want to hear it I am shy and my mom and me are close now but I still don't want to hear the word SEX come out my mothers mouth!!!! She ended up getting me a book (believe it or not I still got it in my dresser WHY I have no idea). Any way it is called The New Teenage Body...It's so old...I guess she got it because I didn't want to talk about it with her.. I already knew about sex from TV...Friends.. you know the kids stuff but I am sure half of it is wrong...so I guess that is why she got me a book...I wish she would have gotten me a book also about my own body the book I have tells about the boy and girl parts but not about just my body.....I am trying to get Pregnant have a book by : by Toni Weschler she has a book for teen girls about there body. Telling them about there cycle and why they have it and what is the wet stuff in there underwear ect. So if the talk doesn't go as planed just get her some books so she can get the facts and not teen girl gossip... She might be too shy at first to even look at the books but give it some time...~Good Luck~ P. S. and if you don't think she knows anything about sex your wrong my nephew who is 5 talks about sex he doesn't know exactly what it is but he knows there in bed on top of each other....

First:: It is only as hard as you make it
Second: Tell her you want to speak with her about something
Threed: Ask her what she knows about Sex
Forth: Clear things up with her tell her the truth about things and what can happen when having sex.

that simple

Warning: I don't think it is the best idea to tell her she isn't allowed to have sex because thats why most kids do it besides pressure explane to her why it is dangerous and that she should wait till she is grown and ready to take on all that responsablity

Let's face it...It's not comfortable to deliver or receive that talk. Start doing something like go on a walk or cook something together. Eventually you will get talking and then you can bring it up. Start light and if your daughter wants to keep talking...she'll let you know. Otherwise, revisit the topic later if she get's too uncomfortable.

Be open with her... but 10 years old is a little too young yet. Wait until 6th grade. They watch a movie about it. I have a 12 and 11 year old.. and I'm open and up front with them.. that is the way to go so they are not scared to talk to you.. I was scared to talk to my mom and dad because they never talked about things...
