What DUKALINK6000 said is right. A lot of the things that many people claim are good for you are not really good or bad for most people.
Protein Bars are good for you if you body needs protein. If your body has enough protein, it won't hurt, but it won't help. And a peanut butter sandwich is cheaper!
Same with that new cold prevention thing everyone is raving about. Read the ingredients. It's vitamins and minerals. If your immune system is not getting enough vitamins and minerals to keep you healthy, this stuff could help prevent colds. If you are otherwise healthy and getting enough vitamins and minerals in your diet, this stuff can have no effect at all. Also, if you need vitamins, buy generic and save a ton of money.

Protein bars are ok for you because you're a vegetarian and you need the extra protein. If that's the only thing that you eat for lunch (with the yogurt) you're fine. You shouldn't gain weight at all.
