I totally understand how you feel. I used to work out 5-6 times a week and was a size 6/8, but then I went travelling and ended up having a 2 year break. I ballooned in this time coz I was still eating the same abouts of food I was when I was working out all the time. I got really depressed about it all and hated seeing myself in the mirror. I decided it was time to go back to the gym, so found a great one (very expensive) and thought that was it - I was sorted...well I was wrong! I went to the gym once or twice, but found it really hard to deal with not being as fit/toned/small as I used to be that I just didnt go....of course that made me feel even worst, coz I was now feeling guilty for not going when I had the membership.
After about 2 months of paying for this very expensive membership and not having been more than twice, I got a call from the gym saying they would like to help me with a 'refocus' session. So I went (and again, it was very hard to get there, but I made myself coz I had made the appointment) and got a new programme for a personal trainer. I explained my situation and so she made the programme very basic, so I wouldnt be intimidated by it. Im now going to the gym 3 times a week and being good to myself - realising it will take time to get back to where I was 2yrs ago, but I WILL get back there if I keep going to the gym. My mind set is now much more positive and I like working out again, even though its still very hard!
I think you just have to push past the barriers you have that are keeping you from exercise. Talk to yourself and remember how good you feel when you do it and remember how lousy you feel when you dont!
I hope this has helped - you're not the only one! Go for it and good luck!!

Hello, (ANS) This is a well known and well recognized syndrome and is caused by the natural release of "endorphins" which are chemical hormones released in the body and affect the brain when you exercise. Or under go alot of physical training as in dance training, or military training, marathon training, etc. **Over exercising is a real danger!! & it is VERY bad for the body and another classic sign is that if you over train your very likely to end up being injured. Injuries are very common when over training, its a way the body is trying to tell you to slow down and not do quite so much. **If you over train your at risk from what some Olympic athletes suffer from which is burn out, you may well reach a point sooner or later when training further gives less and less benefits. Further training becomes pointless as you have already reached your own bodies optimum training performance. **x3 sessions per week would be a far more balanced and realistic number of sessions for your body unless you are a professional athlete. **Its the Endophin hit that your missing, the fact that you now have an injury is a sign that you now need to think very carefully about how many sessions you do in future. IF you continue as before you will burn out for certain, I know I'm talking from direct experience. Regards Ivan

Why don't you ask one of your friends if they facing going to the gym, or doing something that is exercise related, or why don't you buy an exercise video or DVD and do that. They have some pretty good ones around at the moment.
However if you are feeling tired, are you sure that you are eating properly, if you continue to feel tired perhaps you should visit your doctor to check that everything is okay

I get in those little funks too.
Sounds something like...I'm depressed because I don't work out...but I'm too depressed to work out. haha, quite a horrible little conundrum. :)
I've always just forced myself to do it. It feels like absolute hell, but it wears off after 10 minutes then I feel so good the rest of the day. If you are depressed from other reasons though, you should look into talking to a counselor or friend about what's getting you down :(

You are probably tired because you don't exercise. it will give you energy to get you through the rest of the day and you wont feel guilty about not going...Just go do it, you wont be sorry. Get off the computer and Go. once you do this you will find your motivation again

K.... i'm 14 and had the same problem... my motivation was to find a friend to exercise with.
one thing though don't worry if you can't make it to the gym every single day. exercise shouldn't be a burden on your life it should be there to make you feel better.

Ive had problems with my weight all my life, im 25 now, i went through phases of not eating and the exercise thing. i beleive you can get addicted to exercise but it dosen't last as long as other addictions! Its a phycological thing and as you get older you will feel more secure in your own body. Maybe takin up a hobbie or interest will take your mind off things?

depression causes tiredness and de-motivation so maybe it is worth going to the doctors or having a good long look at what is possibly making you depressed. another thing is, maybe you have glandular fever, i had that and i couldn't get out of bed for months, maybe you should request a blood test to rule it out. it doesn't sound to me like you are the slightest bit lazy but something is going on for you to feel so tired and depressed. i wish you luck. x
