This is a ? for believers only. Five years ago I received prophetic dreams, which were backed up on numerous ocassions by God in the Bible, other believers, and signs. I prayed a lot about what God was saying to me in the dreams, and asked for correction should I have misinterpreted the message. Instead, I got wonderful confirmations and I have actively questioned them, and accepted it critically. I am a very rational Christian, and know the dangers of believing in something not from God, so it is very important to make sure that I heard right and it was from God.

So, the question is: if you believe something and you base your life on it but you are mistaken, will God allow you to continue to believe and follow that path? What loving Father would allow a questioning child to have false hope, receive all these verses and confirmations, and never say "Excuse me, child, but that wasn't me or you did not hear/see right". If I was wrong I would have known by now... your opinions?

I believe God will definitely correct you... will you see it as a correction? Thats different. In my spiritual life, I took dozens of different paths but it wasnt until I stopped and asked God to show me, and admitted I didnt know what He wanted and alllowed Him to show me that He did. Now, I study the Bible a lot and I of course have my own interpretation of it as we all do, but there have been many times that I was stopped and God said "now wait, you missinterpreted this" and showed me otherwise and I humbly changed my views. Im sure this will continue to happen also. Most people though, arent willing to accept correction, because they will need to change their mind. That's pride and what did God say about pride? He opposes the proud, and pride comes before the fall. So, always remain humble and He'll be directing and correcting as needed :)

As a Catholic Christian, it's a bit hard for me to answer that. The dangers of individual interpretation of the Bible can lead to just that, confusion about wether or not you're on the right path. The same can be applied to prophetic dreams.

I have a hard time picturing that God's plan to have us follow His will would be the extremely errant nature of individual interpretation. That's why I believe in the necessity of an infallible Church.

I'm glad to here that you are a rational Christian. I'm not sure how I would react in your situation. I would probably start by suspecting inner locutions (talking to yourself without knowing it). Was Christ's message somehow incomplete, that a further private revelation is required? If it was God, the message was likely meant for you alone. Here's what the Catholic Catechism has to say about this:

"The Christian economy, therefore, since it is the new and definitive Covenant, will never pass away; and no new public revelation is to be expected before the glorious manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ." Yet even if revelation is already complete, it has not been made completely explicit; it remains for Christian faith gradually to grasp its full significance over the course of the centuries (Catechism of the Catholic
Church 66).

Throughout the ages, there have been so-called "private" revelations, some of which have been recognized by the authority of the Church. They do not belong, however, to the deposit of faith. It is not their role to improve or complete Christ's definitive revelation, but to help live more fully by it in a certain period of history. Guided by the magisterium of the Church, the sensus fidelium knows how to discern and welcome in these revelations whatever constitutes an authentic call of Christ or his saints to the Church.

Christian faith cannot accept "revelations" that claim to surpass or correct the revelation of which Christ is the fulfillment, as is the case in certain non-Christian religions and also in certain recent sects which base themselves on such "revelations" (CCC 67).

Hope that helps. God bless you!

we could continually continually be polite. keep in mind there are issues interior the Bible that is contradictory. except you have won some training from a individual who's usual with Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic attempt to be careful in telling somebody else they are incorrect. I pesonally don't have self belief in Sola Scriptura. it extremely is in spite of if it extremely is no longer interior the Bible it extremely is no longer real. you won't be able to locate the doctrine of Sola Scriptura interior the Bible. Oh possibly somebody can locate something that means that yet I certainly have on no account seen it. I settle for custom and that i've got self belief Scripture is the kernel of Christian custom. I certainly have study the KJV besides because of the fact the yank Catholic Bible. The English language has absorbed many different languages. some say it extremely is a mongrel language. because of the fact of this we would have one word that should have extra suitable than one meaning in accordance to the way it extremely is used and quite a number of alternative words that propose the comparable element. So we must be careful approximately assuming what we study in an English translation is strictly what the unique meant. Contesting with somebody too many times is amazingly undesirable Christian habit.

The eating of Jesus' words as a daily diet of spiritual bread has a direct and proportional bearing on how much of God's will you understand and on how you interpret your imaginations, your dreams, your inspiration and your cognizance of all the things that effect your emotions, thoughts and passions.
The less bread you eat the greater the slow suffocation, spiritual starvation and ignorance on the day when you discover insufficent oil in the lamp to get you to the marriage ceremony.
My advice to you, and to all who are confused, eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus - namely His words and His life - and you will never have to ask another question from another believer.

God speaks even today....in the pages of the bible. Receiving confirmations is helpful. Be open to correction if your actions are not based in love

Jesus says, "I assure you, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber! For a shepherd enters through the gate. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they recognize his voice. They won't follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don't recognize his voice."
John 10:1-5

Believe, if you aren't in Gods will, you will know it. When you are in His will things work out just right. There is perfect will and permissive will. But when you are in the perfect will, you have a peace about it you can't describe.
