how many of you have heard of the westboro baptist church? (if you havent, google it or go to their website, www.godhatesfags.com). i want to know what everyone thinks about this proclamation of such hatred by proclaimed christians..

they are obviously teaching this hatred to their children, do you think this should be stopped before it hits heights like the KKK? would the government come in and stop if they were preaching racism? if they taught extreme hatred for one (or more) races, would the government come stop them. where do you think the government should come in and put a stop to the teaching of this hatred to our children?

i am not christian but this group offends even me. and anyone who is not christian that looks them up as a disclaimer i want to note that these are NOT christians and they do NOT pull their ideas from the bible as they so claim.

People are just naturally judgemental. It sickens me when people who purport to be Christians are judgemental and nasty. Oh well, humans are not the best creatures.

The government would Not stop their teachings. You are able to think any way that you want in America. That whole 'Free Speach' thing gets in the way.

That group came to the city that I live in a couple of months ago. They were here to speak out against the war by protesting at a fallen soldiers funeral. Telling everyone that our soldiers are killed in the war because this nation is soft on homosexuals.

It was a pretty pathetic sight.

Hatred brings nothing except more hatred.
Before starting using this section of yahoo, I have never had any negative feelings toward anybody, and especially not for Christians. My Christian friends and co-workers here in Saudi Arabia are very nice people, and I'm very open minded person and tolerant to differences so I never had any negative feelings toward any of them. Since I started here, and sensed the much of hatred that some Christians have toward Muslims, I started to have the same feelings toward them. I know you'll say they're only minority, but the thing is that they're the one who catch my eyes with their offensive questions and their lies about us. I'm sorry if I offended the good people, for sure I don't mean it, but I'm just telling you how I feel about it here in Y!A.

Thanks for this question.

I am a Christian and I can tell you the people there do not represent me or any true Christian.They are a warped bunch that have nothing in common with traditional Baptist churches.This so-called "baptist" church (but actually a hate group) is led by a guy named Fred Phelps who lost his marbles a long time ago.All he cares to do is rant that God hates,which is a doctrine diametrically opposed to who God really is.Stay far away from this horrible gospel perverter !

Phelps is a whackjob. As is his entire family. I don't believe he's anymore a "Christian" than I am. And it's sad that that much hatred and venom can eat at a person until basically all that's left is the vile filth that is Fred Phelps.

I don't consider him to be Christian, and I certainly don't hold him against other Christians as an "example of the faith".

I think he's psycho, and just happens to be twisting Christianity to suit his own purposes.

For those who are defending his freedom of speech - Phelps and his crew are the ones who picket soldier funerals with signs like "Thank God for Dead Soldiers". They picketed the funeral of miners killed at the Sego Mine earlier this year. They protested at Mister Rogers' funeral.

He describes himself as an "old-time" gospel preacher who says, "You can't preach the Bible without preaching the hatred of God." ( http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/03/06/btsc.lavandrera.funerals/index.html )

The man is scum.

This group is very much well know and they are planning to come to my state today to protest at a young black teenager's funeral because they asininely believe that our nation is soft towards homosexuality but I know its not just because homosexuality that they are bias against but also blacks. This is without a doubt racism. Sadly, my governor will not attempt to keep them from coming because of freedom of speech and that they can only have 10 protesters and they must be 100 feet from the funeral site. These people are a demonic cult and are no where near Christianity. They are a hate group that must be stopped! *(*

~~~ Chippy,,, Definition of "A Christian",,, the belief that Jesus is The Messiah and Son of God. Period. Now go out and create your own christian sect and preach anything else you want, according to your own Interpretation of a Version of The Bible that you accept as a foundation. That is all. Some king named James made a very famous, and accepted Version, but there are many to choose from.
No, i detect it surely desirable that Jesus hates faith. Even the Jews who had plenty plenty before encountered God had devised there very own customs and traditions. in certainty till at present time they are no longer doing issues in accordance to the Tanakh. working example there is not any sacrifice and the suited observances of Holy Days are heavily lacking. He became bored with each and all the made up regulations that have been being made as a consequence of misinterpretation of scripture. plenty so as that they could no longer even understand that He became the Messiah. Christians on the instant do the comparable element with scripture. They examine and look at and debate and make certain what each and every thing ability and the comparable element is occurring lower back. some say there's a Trinity, some say the daddy, Son and Holy Spirit are surely all one being and others have self assurance (like myself) that the daddy and Son are 2 beings with the daddy as Yahweh and Jesus as His servant the Messiah. The extra we attempt to stick to a faith the extra we comprehend that the regulations are all incorrect. human beings label themselves as Catholic, Pentecostal, seventh Day Adventist and Baptist however the certainty is we ought to consistently all purely call ourselves Christians. The identify of Christ is sufficient. faith has divided us whilst Jesus mentioned that the final command became to love one yet another and to love God. we are failing miserably. I ought to easily say that i've got found out the main from scripture as quickly as I surely have accrued with some who surely purely prefer to recognize God via His word and have prayed for understanding. i've got grown extra closer to God via prayer and Bible analyzing than any faith could have probably given me. He mentioned that the know-how of God became the from the creation of Adam to the dying of the prophet between the temple and the altar. Which have self assurance it or no longer is the order of the books in the Tanakh. this is all we surely choose. the hot testomony is excellent yet you will have salvation with purely the previous testomony or Tanakh. this is probably why Christians experience that Jews don't have an excuse and yet as total we choose whilst our very own testimony is lacking. i in my view prefer to start a biblical studies team in my homestead the place anyone can come to worship God and we are in a position to evaluation from one yet another.
Unfortunately every religion has its extremists and those that believe in hell or karma or reincarnation would hope that these types of people will burn for eternity, have a roof collapse on their heads or come back from the dead as dung beetles.
hatred isn't illegal. it is their right to hate fags, and to proclaim their belief that god hates fags. The government cannot and should not stop it.
They ARE christians, and they DO pull their ideas from the bible. god destroyed entire cities because of homosexuality. the bible proclaims a death sentence for men laying with men. Have you READ the bible?
