I had a hard life from childhood, teenager, and the beginning of adulthood. I have committed myself to a hospital for depression they gave me tons of med and I had to see a counselor for 4 months twice a week but he never really did anything but listen. The next time I was down I saw another counselor who just listen then saw a psychologist who types the whole time I talked to her and gave me more medications.
Who can I talk to who will really help medications don't solve problems they just cover them.

Your best bet is to speak to a psychoanalyst. Unlike like normal psychologist and doctors who use CBT which is what I use fro treatment with bipolar disorder. They are more concerned with resolving past issues in order to work back up. My experience with CBT has been talking about the past but dealing with my present issues and not dealing a lot with what the source was from my past. however when i went to a psychoanalyst, she had me start from childhood and find the root of the problems it's causing me now. try looking on the National institute for Mental health's website for more information and also if you have insurance look on their website to find a Doctor that may offer this sort of therapy or call them directly

You could consider seeing a psychologist who practices cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). These psychologists are very active in helping you get better and don't have prescription privileges (in most cases). They will help you look at your thoughts and behaviors and figure out how to resolve issues from your past by being an active collaborator with you as you work through (and hopefully find some closure with) some of the really hard aspects of your life.

There's a link at the ABCT website to help you find a therapist who identifies with this orientation: http://www.aabt.org/.

you can talkt o me. I can help you. I had issues too but the best people to talk to are ffriends and family. Seems like you're traumatized and the doctors are not trying to figure out what it is that has traumatized you and finding a way of helping you. I used to think that they ask you questions and tell you what they think is causing the problem but it isn't that way- they only listent o what you have to say and don't say anything back. You need a friend not a counselor all those pills they are giving you are making matters worse for you. Stop taking them!

What you need to do is put "past issues" in the past where they belong, You need to live IN the present, and FOR the future. The reason all those people remained silent and just listened is because they were trying to get you to think for yourself. None of them can solve your problems for you, that has to happen within yourself.
