Shaq makes the most because he is an American who has been in the system longer Yao Ming is a relative newcomer. I don't even need to know their salaries to answer this question! Shaq has had several agents since he turned pro and they get him money from commercials, endorsements, appearances and side projects such as films and videos! If Yao Ming continues successfully in the NBA, he may one day earn more money from sources other than playing, as Shaq is doing now!
