YES.
Christian Children's Fund (CCF) is an international child-sponsorship group based in Richmond, Virginia that provides assistance to communities in 33 countries. According to the organization, it has assisted more than 10.5 million children and families.

Conceived in 1938, CCF has provided more than $2.5 billion in services to children--most of the funding coming from individual contributors in the form of monthly child sponsorships. In addition, CCF says it receives grants and donations that support vocational training, literacy training, food distribution, educational programs, early childhood development, health and immunization programs, nutritional programs, water and sanitation development, and emergency relief in both man-made and natural disasters.

The organization has grown in mainstream popularity, most notably from its television commercials depicting photographs of impoverished children in developing countries.

I have a great article on the subject. Legitimate? Yes. Does YOUR money go directly to the Child? No. Is this a Christian based or even a religious based organization? Shockingly, NO!

I would NOT recommend giving to this organization. Your donation will pay for advertizing and other red tape type items and services. If your lucky, 10% of your donation actually will benefit a child. And thats a huge "if"

I recommend the Unicef Children's Fund. Why? Unicef has the best organization set up. It cares for children in the roughest areas of the world where even the Red Cross will not venture. It takles the worlds worst promblems in the worlds worse places.

Also it doesnt try to mislead you into thinking that you can "pay for" one child. Missionary work simply doesn't work that way. Read up on these links. The 1st link is the page you can actually send a donation too.

This is the worlds Best.

Yes, but 20% of donations go to administrative expenses. Food for the Poor, which does the same kind of work, uses only 4% of donations to administrative expenses. The rest goes directly to help people.

It does help children, and for this, it is good. But, it's real motive is to convert people to Christianity. It is like all these missionary groups-----help the people, when they convert drop them and go elsewhere to convert. Why can't people just help people with no reason behind it except to help?

I don't know where you live, but if it's the UK you can check out whether they're credible by looking to see if they're on the Charity Commission register at http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk. Charity Commission is the charity regulator in England and Wales.

If that is the one where you get the picture of the foreign child, and send them cash, I'd say no. A local charity is probably a better use of your money.

It's legitimate, but I am concerned that 20% of your donation is eaten up by overhead

It all depend on how much money they actually give to the charity after expenses and such.
