A few days ago I had to move her box for house repairs, now its moved back to its normal spot. She urinates in it but won't deficate in it. I clean it daily. She also has been drinking out of the toilet and has never done that - that started around the same time. She's 13yrs old not arthritic, as she jumps up on our bed etc with ease, and just had a vet check up with no symptoms of any problems.

As stated before - I clean the box DAILY - so that isn't the problem.

If your cat is 10 yrs and up they could be getting older and senile just re train your senior cat of where the box is at or take them to the vet to make sure they are not blind in their eyes

Give her a little time; if the box was moved for a few days, and now it's been moved again (from her point of view), she may be feeling uncertain as to where it's going to be next. If she's defecating outside the box, put a few layers of paper towels down in the area where she's going until she regains her confidence that the box isn't going to move again any time soon. As for drinking out of the toilet, I'd definitely keep the lid closed so that she can't drink from it; in addition to hazards from injury (like the lid or seat falling), the chemicals used to clean a toilet aren't exactly the best things that your cat can ingest. Good luck!

Well, it could be a couple different things. If you moved her box somewhere else, it might smell different to her or she might even think it's a different box all together. You say you clean it daily but have you emptied it all out and washed it down completely? Have you started using a different kind of litter? It could be any of these things. And if she's drinking out of the toilet, make sure you don't leave any type of toilet cleaner in the bowl or tank.

Is she even pooping at all? If she isn't then I would take her to the vet. Also don't let her drink out of the toilet. I've heard stories before of animals drinking out of the toilet and the lid falls down on their head and breaks their neck. My cat has before, but I make sure to keep the lid now all the time.

Since she is 13 yrs. old, she is probably upset that you moved her box. Cats do not like change. I recently moved and my cat would not use her box for about 2 weeks . Give her some time.

I think something is wrong with your cat and it needs to go have a check up. When cats start doing things they haven't done before, there is usually something wrong.
