The best way is with a secured credit card. The other way is having someone that has good credit history on an account (family, spouse, etc.) put you as an authorized user on their credit card and it will show up on your credit report. This works well with accounts that have always been in good standing (never late) and it has a least 6 months of payment history. Be aware that if this person runs high balances on their credit cards that might impact the score once you get it.

one way to get started to have a checking account. that will get down the basics. after you get a checking account go online and apply to a credit card till you are approved for one. sometimes a cosigner is required such like a parent. i know when i got my first credit card i didnt need a cosigner but i had only a $500 limit. try going to captialone.com and see all the cards they offer, its the only cards i use...hope that helps

Try to apply for a department store credit card. They have higher acceptance rates versus a traditional credit card, since their interest is higher.

Start by applying for a card from your bank. Not an ATM/Debit card, but if they offer a real Credit Card. I know Washington Mutual has a MC.

call up the bank you work with and ask them the best way. it may be a credit card or it could be a personal line of credit. whichever it is, they would be the ones to call up and talk about it with.
