it really depends on how long are you going to leave it on your hair before washing it and differnt people need different times to get the same colour. so it is usually a matter of trial and error. if you leave it for a short time : ex 30 mins you will get brown hair , if you leave it for a longer time you will get red hair and the longer you leave it the richer and darker the red. however if you leave it for a very log time ( in my case more than 4 hours) and you apply it more than once you can get black hair. it will take you a couple of times to decide how long and how many times you should apply henna to get a desired colour.

First henna is a natural plant it only dyes one color. One plant cannot dye two different colors, as it makes no sense. Henna pre-mixed boxes are not pure henna powder as they claim different colors. If you use henna alone, get yourself body art quality henna as it will contain no metallic salts. Your hair with henna as you have described will come out highlighted like burgundy if it is good quality. If you want to tone down the red in the henna, use yoghurt, amla powder, coffee or indigo to achieve more chesnut, mahogany, chocolate tones all the way to black naturally.

Hope this helps

brown w/ a reddish tint. It dpends how dark your hair is. Lighter hair turns out more reddish than darker hair.
