I occasionaly see people with purple spots on their faces. These spots look like images of countries on the maps (I hope this is ethical way to describe it) in that they have torn edges.
Well I don't know what this condition is called and hopefuly a brief description.

They're called Port Wine Stains because of the colour. They are a type of birthmark and can be removed by laser surgery.

They are sometimes called `portwine marks`. They are severe birthmarks. Over the last couple of years laser treatment can be used to lessen or completely get rid of them

Could be a type of birthmark called a hemangioma. 1 in 10 babies born will have them. They fade as they get older.
