Although I always cook mine with Breast up. I've heard of others cooking with breast down.. and have wonderful results also. It just seems backwards. If you want to do less running to the oven and basting, then cook with breast down.

I usually cook my turkey breast up, however I put an apple or the fruit from Dole's fruit cock tail inside of my turkey and it comes out very moist. Also after while you cook your turkey it's a good idea to uncover it 1half an hour before its done so that it can brown to your liking.

Relax...this isn't as bad as u think. First suggestion, follow package directions for cooking time/temperature. Second, rinse your bird well with cold water inside & out, then pat dry with paper towel. Make sure you have a roasting pan that fits your bird (I use disposable, way less clean up). Also, use a roasting bag (Reynolds). You don't have to worry about basting the turkey that way. Season & if u like stuff with favorite stuffing recipe. Butter or oil the top of your bird for a nice golden brown skin before putting it into the roasting bag. Use a meat thermometer to make sure your bird is cooked completely. Good luck & Happy Thanksgiving!

Sounds more like an ostrich you are cooking LOL. Breast down for most of the cooking then the last 30 mins breast up is what I would do.

breast up.... every time I cook it that way the turkey is so juicy it falls apart - so if you're looking for something with more presentation you'll want to cook it breast down.

Breast down for the first half hour. (Prop it up with celery sticks to avoid tearing the skin and give it extra flavor.) Then, breast side up - and rotate every few hours. Baste occasionally for browning. If the breast starts getting too brown, cover or tent it with foil. Happy Thanksgiving.

I would reccomend that you cook it breast down, my best friend cooked her first turkey upside down on accident last year and it was the juiciest turkey I ever ate.
