It's all about giving thanks for your family and what you have. If you can though I encourage any one who can to volunteer at a soup kitchen and keep all those who are less fortunate in your prayers. You can donate canned goods to a local Food Bank or money to an International Hunger Program such as Freedom from Hunger. There are millions of people out there who will go hungry on Thanksgiving as they do everyday. Not just people in underdeveloped countries around the world, but also right in the U.S. kids and others are straving. Many just getting only one meal a day. Two on rare occassions.

The government now says 35 million Americans don't know where their next meal is going to come from, and that number includes 13 million children. That is the US alone.

To me it is sad to see some people talking about how much they are going to eat and sleep during the Thanksgiving holidays while at the same time people right around the block and millions around the world will be starving and some they having no inkly or thought about what is going on and many who do really don't care or don't do anything in there power to help. After gorging and full food is wasted like it is as abundate as water while those lacking food can't afford to waste anything and despite that still wouldn't be enough to satisfy their hunger. When you think about it just a small act of kindness or some type such as a few canned goods would make a big difference in a family's life, especially at this time of year. Just wanted to give everyone something to think about. Just do what you can. It takes a collaborative effort.

Thanks and have a safe and happy thanksgiving holiday.

Hello!

I agree with what you are saying! It makes me feel really bad as well to think people are stuffing themselves when there are millions of people going without food and dying because of it!

Why should there be a day when people stuff themselves silly? Instead, people in America should skip Thanksgiving (or at least not eat so much) and donate all the food or money they would have spent to charities that can help hungry people.

I understand completely. My mother and I were also very poor many years ago and we went hungry many, many times! Now, it is our turn to help others because we know what they are going through for real.

I am glad you are so aware of this and that you are encouraging others to take action to help the less fortunate.

Food is such an important aspect of life. Without it, people's lives are miserable and all they have on their mind is worrying about where they are going to get the next meal...if at all...it's terrible!

It's our duty to help others if we can...we are all on this planet together! As it was said, "No man is an island". We can't make believe the problem doesn't exist. We're all in this life together.

I'm going to go volunteer at a soup kitchen tomorrow and I really hope others will do the same as well! You will be so happy you did! Once, we served some peas and corn to an elderly man at the kitchen and he exclaimed, "I feel like I'm in heaven!"

I'll never forget it! It was heart-breaking! But, it was a wonderful feeling being able to make his day and see how happy he was!

God bless you for your efforts and your awareness of the world's condition and what we can do to help!

Best wishes everyone!

God bless you, you have a great heart and God sees that, I have donated my daughters school asked for items, however one question answerer made a good point she said she's been known to drop off items on doorsteps of less fortunate people, I thought that was awesome, how bout we raise that question who on this panel need food, or just daily person necessities?

For the past two years I had volunteered at the Nashville Union Rescue mission. I can't this year... I have a 5-mile race tomorrow morning. The race is to support the homeless though.
