Matt Hughes is a great, dominant fighter. But Bruce Lee would win. Bruce was the single most dominant martial artist of all time. The power and speed he had for a 140 lb. - 5 foot 7" man was nothing short of incredible. Remember, Bruce Lee was the original " ultimate fighter ". He took things from all kinds of different styles, including grappling and submission fighting. He was years ahead of his time, and it's a shame we lost him at such an early age.

I would have to go with Bruce Lee, Simply because matt hughes know parts of different martial arts amd Bruce Lee knows multiple arts and one of the deadliest arts out the which is Kung Fu. He knows secrets in that art which matt or any person in the world except monks dont know. So if it came to a street fight Bruce Lee would do some thing that matt would never see coming.

It is definetly matt hughes. He is all the way more stronger than brucelee.Any one can do better and more faster martial arts in films. But the problem comes when they are in the arena.Do you belive that bruce lee can do his fight as does in the films. If you say yes than not only bruce lee even all the film actors and some actress can defeat Matt Hughes.

As much as Bruce Lee is a hero to me.
If you take Bruce vs. Matt Hughes today, MMA techniques and the ground and pound game would mean a win for Matt Hughes.
Bruce Lee would win in the stand up game but once Hughes takes him to the ground.............a whole different story.

i believe it would go to bruce lee..
i know most fights end up on the ground..
but they start on the feet..
and bruce lee had the ultimate in skilled standup.. matt's great on the ground, but he's not good a adapting to his opponents.. if he's not playing his game, he's fumbling around the ring..
i personally don't like hughes, but i can appreciate the skill and effort he puts into his mma..
the one big difference is that, even though lee would be outweighed in this match up, he epitomizes adaptability.. like he said, be like water, and boy did that man master the art of being like water.. from his standup to his ground game bruce lee understood the art of combat as well, if not better, than the masters that came before him.. for those who don't do their homework, jkd already had more than a handfull of grappling and submission moves.. bruce lee trained with the legendary judo gene lebell and ed parker, two of the most skilled ground martial arts instructors to this day...
and i know most say, well gracie .. blah blah blah..
royce gracie is an amazing bjj master.. and when the ufc was born he was at the top of the food chain.. i think that he just underestimated the new breed of mma fighters out there now..
plus if you take into the account, the wars that he had to fight back then.. none of these new breed mma fighters hughes included would be able to last as he did, with no time limits, no weight classes, practically no rules, and having to fight 3 different highly skilled guys in one night almost right after the other.. i seriously doubt that any of the modern day ufc fighters would've been able to handle the old rules..
not taking anything away from the man, but maybe just maybe gracie is past his prime, but i sure wouldn't say that to his face.. would you???

hughes woud demolish lee. At the time groundfighting wasn't as focused on as it is today, bruce (even if he were alive) would have little or nothing to deal with it. And if you say he never died?
Well then it doesn't matter how good he would have been because he cannot escape the reality of life and aging, lets see matt hughes in his prime vs a bruce lee who is in his sixties?
This kind of thing is a catch 22 for bruce, he can't win under any logical circumstances because if we a) put him in his prime for the match, then he wouldn't have the background to deal with modern day subs and groundfighting and if we b) say he had not died, then he would be an old man in his 60's so even if he did develop and train some kind of ground/grappling to defend or at least enough to get back on his feet and avoid submission or takedowns then he would be too old to fight against a pro-mma fighter in thier prime.

BRUCE LEE would kick his butt, grappling is only so much, bruce would not let him in a 2 foot radius, if matt did get in there he would not be able to take bruce lees punch; lightning fast
