Maybe this is no big deal to some of you, but if you've ever gone to Subway, have you noticed that when you are waiting for yours to get out of the toaster the person behind you in line skips ahead? Then, once yours is done, you have to now wait for the person who was formarly behind you in line to get done with their business at the register. I'm sure the mentality is that they can finish serving the other person before yours is done, but this rarely happens - why then don't I get my place back in line? Regardless, don't you think Subway should serve people in order? I go there a lot for lunch and although it's not a huge deal I find it annoying. What do you think?

Obviously it's the workers at Subway moving the next person ahead of you, not the next person in line's fault. I would bring it up to the management or fill out a suggestion card at the very least.

I used to work in a Subway, and I personally never started helping the next person in line before the one I was helping was done, unless I passed them on to the next worker like an assembly line.

Speak up. Not to the person in front of you, but to the person behind the counter. Say you think it's rude to move on when they haven't finished serving you yet. In most cases, "the customer is always right" and you get your service. If the employee argues with you, say "well I could always stop coming here", or tell them you'd like to speak to their manager/owner.
I agree with you. They are too busy trying to get a hundred things done, that they end up making the customer wait longer. I can say this because I have been on both sides of the counter. I think it's important to the business that the customers are happy, and it's important to the customers that they are being served well. It is up to you to speak up! It isn't rude if you speak politely and firmly. Good Luck!

Well, having been in the service industry, I can tell you that the entire idea is to "get 'em in, get 'em out." So, what Subway is doing, while annoying sometimes, makes perfect business sense. If they were to wait until each customer was completely finished, the people behind you in line would wait that much longer, and think of THEIR annoyance.; )

This happens so often now! Calls are transferred to an offshore office in India and they answer. Sometimes they speak English, but they don't understand the complexities of the language, which makes it a problem unless your question is very simple. I ask to be transferred to an English-speaking representative when that happens. I also have complained to the company - spcifically (in my case) Capitol One Bank.

I completely agree but I can understand during lunch hour b/c they never have enough people staffed so they are just trying to save some time by starting a new order while your food is being heated. Something to complaint to corporate about.

Why not just speak up and mention that you don't find this good etiquette and that you think the line is there so that everyone waits their fair turn.

Easy, get your sub UN-toasted. You are the one holding up the line with your slow sub.

What are you going to do? People are rude everywhere. You might as well get used to it.
