It's impossible to sue if you're low-income and live in an "at-will" employment state. You don't even need a reason to be terminated.

I never talk about it at work. In America it really isn't socially acceptable to discuss it much, so it really doesn't come up.

So no, but I don't think I ever had a boss who knew.

I love my job, but that would almost be worth it! Discrimination on account of religion is a big no-no in the work place. Also, it wouldn't be the christian thing to do! You know... hate the sin, love the sinner and all that!

----Follow-up----
I beg to differ on the employment at-will issue. At-will employers may terminate for no reason, but not for an illegal reason. Even if you are an at-will employer, you can't fire for race, religion, or national origin reasons. If anyone has evidence that that happened, even if poor (especially if poor), they won't have any problem getting a lawyer to take the case. They won't be poor for long.

No, and everyone else in the building where I work is evangelical Christian. I don't hide who I am, but I also don't taunt people with my Humanism like a flag waved in one's face. When it comes up at all, which is rare, I am more likely to speak about my strong belief in freedom of religion than why I am not religious. A few of my co-workers are very supportive, most at least don't seem to hold it against me, and only a couple are regularly and openly hostile. I just treat them respectfully like anyone else--until the day they cross the line. I am tolerant, not gutless.

Like YDoncha, my being different does affect how I'm treated--how others look at me, but none of it has been what I would call discriminatory.

No, I havent lost my job - but once my boss learned of it, I was treated differently...

Whats the poiunt? Lose your job for being a Christian? If so, Im willing to bet that whoever terminated you WASNT an atheist, but was more likely some opposing system beleiver.... In other words, some other religious fundie. Hate breeds hate.

Nope

I doubt that has ever happened. People are more likely to lose a job because they won't go along with the gang because of religous beliefs, not the lack of them.

The ACLU would be all over the case if it did happen, but they ignore it when a Christian or Jew has problems like that.

No, scientists usually don't judge like that - besides, most of them ARE atheists. I don't have the kind of jobs that people are routinely fired from.

No.

But then again I don't go around making the point known that I am an atheist.

Nope, and I've been fairly open about my atheism...Of course, I lived in California, where a LOT of people are open about their atheism.

isn't it possible to sue even without being in an atwill state? if they're firing you based on bias?
