We often hear about people’s desire to solve world hunger, or to be able to feed the world and help alleviate the suffering associated with it.
However, meaningful long-term alleviation to hunger is rooted in the alleviation of poverty, as poverty leads to hunger. World hunger is a terrible symptom of world poverty. If efforts are only directed at providing food, or improving food production or distribution, then the structural root causes that create hunger, poverty and dependency would still remain. And so while continuous effort, resources and energies are deployed to relieve hunger through these technical measures, the political causes require political solutions as well.
(There are many other issues that also affect poverty and hunger, which this site attempts to start to discuss here in the following sections. Given the number of related issues involved here, over time, expect this section to grow, so do keep coming back to check for updated information!)
Causes of Hunger are related to PovertyThere are many inter-related issues causing hunger, which are related to economics and other factors that cause poverty. They include land rights and ownership, diversion of land use to non-productive use, increasing emphasis on export-oriented agriculture, inefficient agricultural practices, war, famine, drought, over-fishing, poor crop yields, etc. This section introduces some of these issues. Solving World Hunger alone will not solve World PovertySolving world hunger in the conventional sense (of providing/growing more food etc) will not tackle poverty that leads to hunger in the first place. Further, there is a risk of continuing the poverty and dependency without realizing it, because the act of attempting to provide more food etc can appear so altruistic in motive. To solve world hunger in the long run, poverty alleviation is required.

Hunger is a major problem in the world.the world is not doing enough in the "War on Hunger." Adults and especially children are feeling the brunt of the hunger issue. Many people live in areas that are either unfit for agricultural practices or lacking in economic vitality. That is to say, it's common for those who are hungry to be victims of poor soil and harsh economic and governmental conditions. You can see more details:

No as a I grew up poor in Georgia. I lived two other brothers and my sister. My mother was unable to work because of anxiety, depression and other health problems. There were time when we didn't know where our next meal would come from. My sister who was ten years older than us. She finish college and became a manager for t-mobile she helped us out alot. We also started getting food stamps which keep us from starving. My older brother is now finishing college and is going into law school. My other brother is going to school to become an accountant.
Now I am 19 getting a degree in microbiology minor in spanish and chemistry and planning on working for the CDC soon but I know how it feels to be hungry and poor and its not great at all. so now I doing all I can as my part to try to alleviate hunger in the world. so I'm pretty sure it wasn't because my mother was to lazy to get a job that we went hungry before that she worked 6 days a week so come again.....i think not. Many people are in the situation we were. Also many countries in Africa you are either poor or rich and I think if you are poor you would not have much food so you would be hungry and I think that answers that.

What the helll are you saying, that hunger is a problem because people are lazy, that is so unintelligent and cold. Your fellow human beings are not getting enough money, because certain countries, such as africa, cuba, vietnam and china and many other politically corrupted countries, who value wealth over seeing their fellow human beings fed, in a home and everyone is happy. Welcome to our Earth and those humans who have choosen to profit, off the labor and backs of their own citizens. Every country demands that their citizens pay tax from their salaries, and even then rent, food, utilities forget about vacations or any fun, visa charges, debtt.. So life is unpredictable, but it is also based on how a baby is raised, and what an adult human being decides they want to do with their lives, Children who are hungy are not to blame or say they are lazy,.Oh by the way if you ever are hungry or lazy to work, go visit the wealthy , plastic and malnourished rich people, who used people that worked for these money minded, greedy, SOBs who did not care what happens to their fellow human being.,.,.,

I believe that hunger is a problem in the world because some places can't produce all of the food they need. There is enough food for the world its just not all in the right places.
If you visit this site you can help stop hunger. It is a great site that uses advertising revenues to donate money towards hunger prevention throughout the world.

Youre not even close. Hunger is a problem not only due to natural events but political as well Most people in the world simply would love to have the chance work give an honest days work for a fair pay. there are people who work for less than a dollar a day. And its not that a dollar goes further there because it doesnt. bad leaders

There is not an easy answer to this very easy question to ask. We live in a world that CHOOSES to to prevent a sizable segment of its population from obtaining the means by which to survive. When people have to really scuffle to survive, then there is not time to think and reason out what their supposed leadership is really doing for their country. I am unable to speak about the world but I can speak about what has and is happening in the USA. There is no excuse here in the USA. Please, give some time and logical thought to what you would do if ALL available resources were lost to you. Then judge. I've been there, did that and seen too many others who have not survived and will likely never.

~~~ Dear Pollyanna,,,, Hunger in the World is Simply Political,,, and it all boils down to The Greed of the Developed Nations and some inscrupulous individuals in power who divert donated money and food items to their personal profit. There must be people measured over a million in the USA who don't even get enough food to eat in a day. It seems it's only Criminal in this country when "it" happens to a child. Well there are plenty of children in the USA who are hungry !! The US donates plenty, but "we" don't care where our donations end up. All we know is that we gave. Educate yourself to the Real World.
I honestly think that hunger is a problem because some people are less fortunate than some of us are and instead of people trying to help them get off their feet they would rather chastise them and not lend out a helping hand. Another reason is that humans are stuck in a materialistic world and mind frame. Stop buying things that you can't take to your grave, the memory of helping someone lasts a lifetime.REEL TALK!!!
Poverty and hunger have nothing to do with laziness. Example we can find an abundance of people working extremely hard and getting very little pay for their labor. Either because they are poorly paid or because what they produce is bought for pittance. On the other hand you have people doing nothing but have wealth passed on to them just because they were born in the right family.
