This is a controversial part of Christianity and I am assuming you have a Pentecostal background which emphasizes being baptized with the Holy Ghost. Most mainstream Christian denominations teach that when you accept Jesus Christ and become born again you also "get" the Holy Ghost since the three are one. Either way it's a mysterious thing. I used to be in a Pentecostal church and received the Holy Ghost at a very charismatic revival service. Looking back on it now I think it is just a highly emotional zeal brought about by being in like-minded company. Beware of things that get too charismatic like laughing or barking like dogs.

As far as having the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit, the third part of the trinity dwelling inside of me, probably not, at least by Christian standards.
My religion believes that Deity can fill a person though. That that same deity can speak though a chosen vessel. That it is a process involving invitation and cooperation between deity and woman or man.
So,we have the same sort of thing, but with different concepts.
Edit.. I'm smiling now. Isn't it cool that simple differences in beliefs cause people to be offended and thumb down an answer? There can be little doubt as to who is being intollerant here, right?
Interfaith communication is only possible when both parties are willing to accept each other's faith as right for them. Obviously, that's not wanted by some of those here.
Thumb me down, and proclaim intollerance loudly. I don't mind.

I got saved a little over seven years ago. I was taken through scriptures in the New Testament (Acts 1:8, Acts 2, among others) that talked about Jesus returning to the Father and leaving a Comforter which was the Holy Ghost. There was power in receiving the Holy Ghost and evidence of receiving which was speaking in tongues.
I was told I could pray and ask to receive the Holy Ghost. There were a group of us in a room (just like in Acts 2) and I remember standing there with my eyes closed and praying out loud saying over and over, "Please God, give me the Holy Ghost. Please. I want to speak in tongues."
I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS - this lady walked up to me and tapped me on my shoulder. I opened my eyes and she said, "Why are you begging God? You don't have to beg Him for anything. Just thank Him for giving it to you." I thanked God for the Holy Ghost. I thanked God for being able to speak in tongues. And I was filled at that instant! I started speaking in tongues! And it was just like in scripture (out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water). That was one of the best things that ever happened to me in my life.
The Holy Ghost is real. The Holy Ghost is power. The Holy Ghost is a connection between you and God that can never be broken. And God loved us so much that He gave us a heavenly language that we can use to communicate with Him that the enemy will never be able to understand.
If you're reading this and you're saved, and you've never been filled, you can have this power too. You need it!!! It makes a difference!!!
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

Yes! Any one at all who is born again has the Holy Spirit dwelling inside them. John Ch.3 deals with a conversation between Nicodemus and Jesus. here Jesus explains to Nicodemus that he must be born again (born from above) as flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Jesus explains how a person is born again and I'm happy to say that was exactly how it happened to me

I got saved in 1998, I only know that at that point in my life church was not an option. When I walked in church I felt like the pastor was looking at me. All thru the service I felt like he was talking to me. He made a alter call my Friend was in the choir she asked me to come up I was holding her son at that time. I did everything I could to avoid going up to the front. I felt like something pushed me in my back, then about three days later I asked God to fill me with his holy spirit and he did. Everything God has for us is a gift and it is up to us to receive the gifts. I am glad that I have the holy spirit in my life he corrects, helps, and guides me everyday. But even though he is there it is still up to me to listen to him.
