I don't think so. I find it better to drink, when I have a hangover.
Soda Water is also better for cleaning your pallet after eating greasy food. It also helps to settle your stomach!

nycgirl, I don't know where you get your knowledge of UK Pipes!
I am a UK trained Water Industry Accredited Inspector and both Domestic Services and Mains Pipework in Britain have to come up to some rigorous standards for hygiene. Water quality is also checked continuously. It is true, that some areas have a 'lime scale' problem, but I for one have never had to clean a Kettle or DeScale ever! I think you have been listening to some Urban Myths. If you want to check out water industry accreditation in the UK, Google 'WIAPS'

PS It has actually been proven by independant lab tests, that Bottled water coming to the UK from well known Continental Suppliers have higher contents of minerals and other solid matter than a standard sample of UK Tap Water!

Sorry Bill G but England does NOT have the best water. I am now in South Africa and their water is better. You can actually feel and taste the differance. In the UK the pipes are often very old, or the water has lime in it. How often do you have clean your kettle? Yuk.

I love carbonated water. I baught a soda stream. I think its when you mix it with stuff that it becomes 'bad' because of the sweetners and stuff. Other wise its just gassy water. I got bored of plain water. nice way to make it different

No, not at all. Make sure to check the label, because some carbonated waters have sodium added to them, but most brands are just water with carbonation and flavoring added. I use seltzer to make juice spritzers in the AM-cuts down on calories in the straight juice and gives me some of my water intake for the day.

Carbonated water is mildly acidic so could be bad for your teeth. Bottled water is certainly bad for your pocket and the environment. It uses an enormous amount of energy to bottle it and transport it and since Britain has high quality, pure tap water is something of a waste

Not really. Doctors will say that the carbonation will dehydrate you, but you're still getting some water at least.

Personally I love the stuff!

it's not that bad for you - it's water - carbonated or not it's better than sugar loaded juices or fizzy drinks like coke! I think there is some argument over the benefit of the gas, it can cause bloating and trapped wind, plus people tend to drink less because they feel fuller faster. Given the nasty tap water we drink, bottled water with gas is probably the lesser evil!

My dentist says it is bad for your teeth, even without sugar. Also, I read nutritionists don't recommend it, because the bubbles make you drink less water than you otherwise would. I still like it though. hth
