You can call or write the web site cited below and ask for Kay Jorgensen and ask for the advertiser who runs a company who supplies that information (He does any gun not just Civil War Guns) for which you are asking. Come to think of it you could write or call her at mail@civilwarnews.com or 1(800) 777-1862. Tell her Gary sent you, she'll never figure it out. :-) God Bless You and The Southern People.

This will be very very difficult.

The service members SRB (Service Record Book) will have his issued weapon's serial number.

However... depending on where and what the servicemember actually did in WWII, may not match the weapon.

Remember, back then, if you ran out of ammo, you just picked up a fallen comrades weapon. Having a weapon was more important than having his issued weapon.

Easier to trace what weapon he was given, than the weapon to whom it belonged to. Don't be shocked if the weapon does not match the name of the servicemember's number you have.

Good luck.

I don't understand the question! Rifles were not issued necessarily for the duration. Many were damaged, lost, captured, or simply stopped working. When this happened, a new one was issued. One GI could possibly have three, four, or five weapons issued to him, plus when a GI transfers to another unit, his weapon doesn't necessarily go with him, so once again, the weapon doesn't necessarily follow a person, or a person the weapon.

it extremely is the two on the backside of the grip section or under the cylinder latch on the physique of the revolver. you will not discover serial numbers on a barrel using fact nicely barrels could be bumped off. it must be on the receiver that's the section that's controlled via the ATF. i can call Douglas and order a barrel and characteristic it shipped good to my door. can not do this with a receiver

Unless you can find the records of when that rifle was issued - you cannot.
