Well, you would know if it was lice,
It could be just dandruff. There are special shampoos available at grocery stores for lice treatment. Also boil all of your hairbrushes, sheets, pillow cases. good luck!

Well Honey, if it's just dandruff try "Selsun Blue" or "Head and Shoulders" it really works and wouldn't hurt to use it once in a while.
If it's lice, you have a problem. Go to the pharmacy of the nearest drug store where you are. Ask the pharmacist what to use. Follow all the directions carefully. Make sure your lice free then, boil all your brushes, all your hair stuff, it has to be lice and nit (eggs) free.
Find a magnifying Glass from a friend. Pull some hairs out and look closely near the roots, See if you can see any white eggs around the bases, these are called "nits" they stick to the hair with a special resin the flea uses, you have to use care, a nit comb from the drug store and shampoo.
You'll have to wash all you sheets, pillow cases, clothes and other bedding. I would eve vacuum my rugs and other furniture around the bedroom.
Don't take this lightly you'll find out the consequences if you do,

If you had lice, you would see little bugs moving around in your hair when you look closely. There are shampoos out there that help but you must use the lice comb they have very well. If you just got it, you can get rid of it quick but if it has been a little while and the lice are adult sized you will need to get more agressive. My kids went through this. One of them, I had to cut her hair really short. The other one would not let me cut her hair so we smoothered her hair with hair gel for a week (pulled her hair into a bun after we put all that gel on) and smoothered the little suckers. Hope you don't have it though.

If lice is going around in your school go to the drugstore and look for NIX. It is a shampoo to get rid of lice that you used to have to a prescription for. Lice like to live in the hair closest to your neck and create little nits. You have to use a very fine comb (usually comes with the shampoo) to comb them out. Also wash and clean everything in the house from top to bottom. And don't share hairbrushes, combs, hats, hair rubber bands etc. Check out the sites below for more information.

Take a strand of your hair and see if the white thing just falls right off. If it does then it's not lice. If you have to take your nails and scrap it off your hair then it is lice. They make shampoo to get rid of it. Also get a lice comb. Savon, Rite Aide, CVS would have the stuff you need.

LICE NITS [EGGS] ARE ATTACHED TO THE SHAFT OF THE HAIR AND IT IS NOT EASY TO REMOVE. DANDRUFF IS EASY TO GET OFF.
IF YOU DO HAVE LICE, BUY THE FOLLOWING ITEMS.
NIT COMB
RUBBING ALCOHOL
WHITE VINEGAR
PLASTIC CAP
SPRAY BOTTLE
DETANGLER SPRAY
MIX HALF VINEGAR AND HALF ALCOHOL IN A CLEAN SPRAY BOTTLE
IN A WELL VENTED AREA HAVE SOMEONE SPRAY YOUR HAIR WHILE YOU COVER NOSE AND MOUTH. SATURATE IT WELL AND COVER WITH PLASTIC CAP. LEAVE IN 2-8 HOURS. DEPENDING HOW INFESTED YOUR HEAD IS.
TAKE THE DEGANGLER SPRAY AND USE IT AS YOU COMB THE HAIR WITH NIT COMB. YOU WILL NEED TO WIPE COMB ON A WHITE TOWEL TO CLEAN IT OFF AS NEEDED.
YOU NEED TO WASH ALL LINEN, CLOTHES, SPRAY BED AND PILLOWS WITH LICE PRODUCT FOR BEDDING. FOUND AT WAL MART IN PHARMACY.
REPEAT ONCE A WEEK FOR ABOUT A MONTH.

Have someone look closely at the hair at the nape of your neck. They may see lice or just eggs. Eggs will cling to your hairs. You can treat lice with over the counter shampoo - ask the pharmacist. You will have to treat again in two weeks to be sure you get the unhatched eggs. You will also have to wash EVERYTHING to be sure you don't reinfect yourself. (Your bed clothes, etc.)
Lice are nice. I've had them twice.
Now my head itches.

If it's dandruff, the particles will brush off easy, but if it's lice, the egg is laid around a strand of hair, and you would have to use your nails to pick it off. There's commercial shampoo available over-the-counter, and a special comb.

go through your hair in the bathroom and if you see white little things in your hair moving a little then you should try putting some mayonnaise or some peanut butter in it, because the oil in these items will kill the lice.
