I've heard that it's not really better than ice cream, but because it's labeled as yogurt, it has gotten the reputation of being healthier. (For that matter, I don't consider yogurt healthy.) Occasionally, I eat soy "ice cream", but it's very rare. (I had quite a bit of it when I was pregnant, though. I blame being pregnant in summer. I gained 50 pounds, but in four months and five days I've lost all of it plus two pounds.) Over the summer, we got into the expensive habit of going out for pizza on Wednesdays and to Coldstone after. I ceased getting the raspberry sorbet when I saw on the website that it contained corn syrup and artificial colors. Instead, I started to get a small smoothie. It wasn't any better or worse than what I could make at home, as it as all fruit, but I got it anyway. (It was certainly more expensive.) Therefore, if you're going to have it, have it on occasion and buy it at the grocery store at least. This way you will be saving money. ETA: I also agree with the sugar free and fat free comments. I think that those are also nice little marketing phrases to get people to buy things because sugar and fat are supposed to be evil. Well, cow's milk is naturally fatty, as the calves need it for growth. (The same with my breast milk, of course.) It's less natural when the fat is removed. (And then to alter it into "dairy products" is even more unnatural, as it's taking the milk from its original state.) Most sugar free products replace chemical sugar (corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup) with tings like Spledna, Equal, Sweet 'n Low, etc. (I suppose stevia is supposed to be better.)

Why don't you just use skim milk? It has almost NO fat and VERY low on calories. If it's the taste of skim milk you are afraid of, then slowy wean yourself off the other milk. If you use whole, switch to 2%, then 1%, then skim...they even make an EXTRA SKIM milk! Yogurt is good for you, but probably has the same amount of fat as milk.

not really, probably about the same. They have lowfat yougurt which i believe is made with 2% milk, and non fat which is made with skim, and regular creamy yogurt is made with whole or 4% milk...yogurt IS healthier than milk though, because it has bacteria and cultures that are really good for you. For women, its especially healthy.

check the label.

There are so many brands of yogurt with different amounts of fat and carb that you need to check the individual label.

Some are fat free, bu then again some milks (SKIM) are fat free too.

Must make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Good luck!
