Of course NOT. Some answerers above answered "we can do whatever we want to ourselves" but that's WRONG. You can take drug if you want? No you cannot. There is such a thing called SOCIETAL IMPACT. In economics we call it Negative Externality. Some answerers above gave a good answer by saying that allowing people to sell their organ will lead to more crime, whether it's people "robbing" someone's organ, or corporate crime whereby companies exert their influence to manipulate the organ transplant process to maximize their monetary profits.

I hope stem cell research can take off soon -- THAT is the hope in the medical community.

Hmm. Interesting question. Gets to the matter of whether we really DO have rights to our own bodies, and privacy rights, etc. For example, pro choice advocates argue that they should be able to have an abortion any time they want, because they have a right to privacy and it's their body to do with as they please, etc.

Yet, it is illegal to sell your organs, to commit suicide, or to ingest illegal drugs.

The hypocrisy is pretty funny, actually. I think if abortion is OK for the reasons being argued, then all those other things ought to be OK too.

Now, before you flame me needlessly, please note that I did NOT take a position on abortion! I was just arguing the LOGIC by using an analogy.

What's even WEIRDER is that we can donate organs all day, as long as we don't take any money for it! Huh?

The organs whould bypass to the wealthy quite of people that should benefit the main earnings. choosing the main suitable crossmatch could get replaced by utilising capping bids on eBay based on the bidders impact of the probability of success. high quality could fall. Years of life won according to transplant could fall. The unfastened industry isn't properly equiped to make scientific judgements.

If you ascribe to the "it's my body and no one can tell me what I can or can't do with it" philosophy, if you believe in killing a fetus via an abortion, then you should also have no problem in selling an organ.

We are allowed to do whatever we want, no-one can actually tell us that we can't do it, it's only the laws that tells us if we do certain things we will be punished for it. We are free to make the choice for ourselves.
I wouldn't personally do it cause I don't think any amount of money is worth one of my organs.

well maybe under some conditions but i say no and here's why: if a poor person is dying, and a rich person will be okay for a little while longer but they both need the same organ, the rich person could buy one and the poor person would die. that's not really fair.

Hi there !
Think about it properly..
whats wrong in that ?
"Our" organs!!..and "we" are selling it...and for the benefit of "somebody else"...right ? whats wrong in that ?
In addition, this will reduce the "behind the curtain" malpractices being practised nowadays in the name of "organ transplantations"....! dont you agree ?
best wishes...

No. Wouldn't you expect the murder rate would skyrocket with "organ thieves"?
