I do not suggest to disregard Old Testament but bind that with the 4 gospels and the book of Revelation. This is suggested to put one's faith in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, the Triune God. Any book that contributes to dissensions and controversies should be disregarded or kept away as guide book or references. Christians must turn their faith to God only and none others. God the Father even warns that Jesus is His beloved that we should hear him only. Jesus is the one that God the Father has given him all the authority and power in heaven and on earth. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wondrous face. The light of the world will grow strangely dim in the light of Jesus' Glory and Grace.

"...any book that contributes to dissensions (sic) and controversies should be disregarded..."

OK, let's disregard the four gospels: they don't agree with each other, contradict each other in several places, were written 50-100 years after jesus' death by people who never met him, and have been modified in their current form to be different than their original form. By your own definition, they should be disregarded.

Revelation: the attempt to interpret what seems like a bad LSD trip has led to more controversies than nearly any other biblical book. Even the group that put together the bible as it is today had a huge controversy over whether to include it or not. No two christian sects agree on what it means entirely -- that's dissention. So out it goes too, it must be disregarded by your definition.

That leaves us with...nothing from the bible that doesn't cause dissention and controversy. Great! So you agree now that we can toss the whole superstitious-fairytale myth book? Yippee!

But the four gospels contradict each other:

John the Baptist was Elias
Matt 11:14
John the Baptist was not Elias
John 1:21

Christ taught non-resistance
Matt 5:39/ Matt 26:52
Christ taught and practiced physical resistance
Luke 22:36/ John 2:15

Importunity in prayer commended
Luke 18:5,7
Importunity in prayer condemned
Matt 6:7,8

The Old Testament is the foundation. It "makes straight" the way of the Lord (Jesus the Christ). For centuries, theologians have written in attempt to explain, understand, or teach the Word to others. Now crap like the "Lost Gospels" is just that. They weren't lost, they were discarded for being heretical. The Epistles and other letters in the New Testament are for enlightenment.

If you base your faith off of just four of the gospels, are you being fair? There were tons of gospels out in the world before the bible collected them and decided on the four that would go into the bible itself. What about those other gospels? Should they be ignored because some ancient men decided they were best for the whole world? I'm not saying they might have made a bad decision because they are men, I'm saying they might have made a mistake because they are mortal and ancient, from thousands of years ago. How could they know what is best for the world for all eternity?

I believe in the the Divine Spirit and the Creator of Nature. I believe in the power of the Ancestors and the energy of all that is connected to this world. So uhmmm.... I don't believe in Jesus, I'm a Druid. But thanks for the preaching anyways.

The Bible does not contradict itself. In fact it all comes together once you begin to understand it.
