I don't think morals and religion are necessarily the same thing. There are many immoral things done in the name of religion. I do not ignore my standards for morality and I don't need religion to tell me what those standards ought to be. The Golden Rule is a good enough guideline. Thank you Jesus for that one.

First they are two completely separate things. Secondly I don't feel they are. Yes you do have a fringe element that doesn't follow the morals of society but they are the few that are most seen on the news so everyone thinks that this is all there is. As far as religion, In the USA we have the right to worship as we choose even if that means we choose not to.

You may mean, ¿Why does people ignore My moral code and religion?
The answer is simple, it is best for them to do so.

Everyone has his/her own moral code, even close relatives may give different values to the same principles, all in all, religion and morals are meant to be used to live better fulfilling lives, since everyone has a different setting, it would be foolish to give the same value to the same things all the time.

~~~ lakersboy ,,, This is a very Subjective question which reveals your inherent prejudice. Religion is NOT being ignored,but only from your Sectarian Perspective and what clergyman or biblestudy group has promoted to you. ,,, And as for morals I give the best quote on the subject,,, " Morals are the result of human intellect,,, and wishful thinking." Alan Watts ,,, and I should add Intolerance of those different than yourself.
Ignored?! Where do you live that religoun is ignored? Can come over?! As for morals, I personally hold morals as one tof the most important tools to raise my children. Good morals, honesty ,kindness, honor, are the building blocks for future generations. Unfortunately, these are being lost to the almighty dollar:(
One has nothing to do with the other. Personally, I am not religious but I am very proud of my morals. In everything I do I first consider if it's proper. My neighbors know this and admire me for it.
